This will be a used one below $10k.
I know most people would say it will give me problems because of the price. My uncle is a tractor trailor mech. who used to work for Petro and is now working for Tri-state and so fixing shouldn't be soo much of a problem.
I also see that there are many local Owner /operators in atlanta. For example...This account pulls trailers and you get $120 per trailer and which is all drop and hook in atlanta.I plan on using it locally or south east(regional) without being over the road weeks at a time.
I see many in the papers with 60"/70" sleeper.I also see some with 370hp freightliner.I also see some with one axle. What should be looking for when buying a tractor?

If your uncle is a mechanic, have him check out the truck before you buy. If you stay local a day should suffice . You don't mention what you will be hauling. If every load is light you could get by with a single axle. But a twin screw will give you more options weight wise. I think you should do some more research on the company you plan to lease to. The kind of freight, type of trailer and where you operate will dictate what you need in a truck i.e. sleeper, horse power etc.

Good Luck!

Try to stay under 700k miles, get at least 370 hp, stay clear of super 10s, avoid the ag200 suspension (needs constant rebuilding) and try to find the maintainance history of an tractor you are looking at. It can help you get a better idea of what repairs will come up in the future.

I thought the super 10s were the split shift with 1-5 on the low side and 6-10 on the high side with the lever up?
Please educate me.Are you saying I should get a regular 6/7 speed stick.

YOu probably wont find a super 10 anyways(not for under 10k) A super10, has no front paddle, only the side button. You only go through the pattern once, splitting the gear in every position. Standard 10s, you go through the gear pattern, in fifth you flip the paddle up, and go back through the gear pattern again.
