Happy to be here

I noticed straight away there were many people from MI and Ohio here. Just completed CDL school (I know, very scary people) and will be hooking up with an O/O here in MI.

Wanted to say hello and I've learned quite a bit just cruising this site for a few weeks. Had a chance to go with one of the big T/T training programs for new people just out of school, but glad I held out for Expedite running.

One thing I will not do on this forum? Will not be revealing or bashing the person/entity who decided to take a new driver and run straight truck team with an experienced person for training. I have a duty and obligation to hold true to my end of the bargain and run hard while learning the Expedite way of doing things. One thing I have going.....not used to any old ways or habits and will learn this business as we go along.

Do appreciate the professionalism and knowledge this site holds. Would not be here if all I heard was negative things about trucking and how we're all getting hammered by the system. I want to learn from you guys/gals and move forward in a positive light. Realization will set in later. ;)

You can call me Gary, or Mav, or Rookie. I deserve all three titles and thick skinned am I. Motive here is listen and learn, with perhaps an occasional comment. After all, I've nothing yet to offer, but happy to be here all the while. Thanks!

Hello MX......Thanks to the welcome and not sure what "pattern is full" means? It'll take me a bit to pick up on the lingo and meanings, but it's fun in figuring out. Sorry, just ignorant for now and hope you can enlighten a new person?

Thanks again and I've read some of your posts. Good to hear from you.

OK, think I get it now. My fault for not explaining the nickname (about to give age here) but that name came from a high school buddy, and is patterned after the western series starring James somebody?

Only many years later did some actor make it famous, via a jet fighter movie. He flat stole my name and I received no compensation whatever? :) So, mid 50's in age, name given by perception of HS buddy, and no fighter pilot skills at all.

Actually grew up in Hawkeye country, just south of Iowa City. We used to go up to the I-80 truck stop and eat dinner when it was just a cafe, and a few trucks around. Best home made pie in the area and watched it grow over the years. I think they sell a few belt buckles now, and fries have improved since then. Will be fun to go back, if I get the chance.

Family is still there as well. Some Sterzing chips would be nice, Kalona cheese curds, and some home made Rhubarb pie. All if the window doesn't tighten too much on delivery time. Freight first.

Not sure which one your talking about, but my little sis works at one of them. Some new Casino up that way and I really need to "get out more". Hopefully my introduction is such that I can get on with posting in the threads, as I have a few questions. Right now? I'm running the G3 off this computer to get it dialed into my laptop. Outgoing email server is kicking my rear at the moment.

Hi Ragman. Still working on my G4/G3 device for outgoing server settings. It appears Thunderbird mail is not going to line up with the server. Refuse to go smart phone and gotta get this figured out by Monday.

As for welcome thread.....thanks for the words. Promise not to buzz the tower until I'm real good. Give me 5 years and I'll wait until the coffee is of quality and real hot. That should do it.

Well Hi JuJu!

Your right, but I'm trying to hide my underlying ego, while professing humbleness in nature. Got so crossed up between Hawkeye and Wolverine.....it's the hybrid mentality here. Throw in the occasional Buckeye and see what you get?

I can cut it to a couple of years with help. (but don't tell anyone) Thanks for the welcome reply and I do harken back to Iowa roots when a challenge reveals itself. We'll be up for the gig and sounds like I have a good partner for starting out. Come what may.....

That could be the answer Ragman. Better leave it at that for a response....don't need the hard cores throwing things at me for now. :D

That's odd - I never felt accepted here until I had to duck, lol. Welcome to one of the most addictive [and informative] sites around. ;)

Thank Cherri. Should be fun and informative. Will be packing some stuff today in preparation for my first run in a truck. Heading down to South MI to meet with driver and owner Mon or Tues. One thing left to be purchased, and that's a blue tooth headset. Read through that thread and it seems the 250XT is the high unit. Problem is, I won't be able to ensure it fits with my phone before buying. We'll figure it out. Thanks again for the welcome!

Like the "avatar"!! Thick skin is always a good thing also...:)... Stick around, read and ask questions and let the "sarcasism" roll off your back...

Enjoy the ride, while it can get "bumpy", it is a fun one!! :D

If compatibility might be an issue with the bluetooth, just buy it at a place [truckstop or bigbox] where returns are relatively painless. FWIW, I've had a couple of them, and pairing was never a problem.
Losing the little suckers - that's a problem! Yeah, I know: get a BlueParrot. Except I can't tolerate wearing anything on my head, so the itsy bitsy Blue Ant is my choice.
But maybe I'll just switch the earbuds from iPod to phone if it rings - never thought of that, till someone [Scott?] mentioned
it - that'd sure solve the current 'iPod or handsfree?' question on those long rides......Love Audiobooks, but when the phone rings, it's like a Chinese Fire Drill in the driver's seat, lol.

I bet Rags has a pic for that, too

That James would be James Garner. Lucky for you your HS buddy didn't tag you with the nickname Rockfish.
