I've talked to the owners over the years, they seemed to be nice people. So that's good.
From my perspective, motor carriers on this list - are more focused on organic growth:

Generally, they are trying to grow their businesses (and their fleets) - not via load board freight, but by actually getting direct shippers and manufactures to call them first. So the load isn't brokered 3 times before you see it.
So my advice is go with a company that has it's own customer base.

I knew a Kentucky driver that had been driving for them for several years ... really nice easy going fellow with Alot More patience for Sitting Waiting for a load than i could ever had .... sad ending to story ... he was found dead in his yellow cube a couple months ago
