Check out these resistance bands. They are inexpensive and compact. A wide variety of exercises can be done with them and instructions can be easily found online. With a little ingenuity, many resistance-band exercises can be done right in your sleeper.

Diane and I used to carry exercise equipment in the back but it did not get used as much as intended because inertia tended to keep us in the peaceful, comfortable sleeper. On layovers, when the thought to exercise came to mind, inertia often kept us seated in the comfortable sleeper instead of motivating us to climb out of the truck, climb into the back, run the loud reefer to bring our "gym" to room temperature dig out the equipment and work out.

With resistance bands in the sleeper, we would have worked out more because the bands would be in immediate reach. With these bands in the sleeper, fewer barriers exist between thinking about exercise and actually exercising.

A better solution is to join a gym that has hundreds or thousands of locations in North America (Anytime Fitness has the most with 2,233 today and more opening all the time). A gym gives you a great place to work out, and showers too. But even with a gym membership, expediters find themselves away from a gym for days at a time. Resistance bands can provide the workouts you would otherwise miss.
