Having my own food concession stands I would say STAY AWAY! lol. It's a great seasonal return, but it's just that, seasonal. Having my own expedite company also, I would always suggest take the gaurantee and the least overhead. Just be a driver for a great company that can meet your needs. I would never deter anyone from opening a new company in expediting, however, everyone is doing it, and the rates are depressed and most companies will not deal with anyone less than 20 trucks. So now your subject to other carriers cheap loads and more headaches than its worth. CV's are extremely competitive and straight trucks are my preference for what we do. Good luck with any decision you make!! If I can help with anything send me a PM ! 1 more thing, most customers will not sign a new company until its at least 6 months old. And then it's a uphill battle. They may sign you with truckload options and in a year let you see some expedite opportunity. NLM/Landstar is very strict on policy and procedure. 2 yr average to become a premium carrier unless you "know someone".
