How 'bout some carrier responses to the fuel surcharge concern noted in another thread.

Is there a difference in fsc percentage of tariff for different truck sizes? i.e. will the customer pay a different fsc percent for a van than for a straight truck? If so, whats the difference?

Hey Terry,
Did you beat the storm out of Columbus after the expo?
Of course, I can't speak for all carriers, but the percentage of fsc is the same regardless of the type of vehicle you are in. Different tariffs...same percentage.

So if I understand correctly a run for a van that has a tariff of $500 at 15% fsc pays $75 in fsc to the van. The same run to a D unit has a tariff of $1000 and pays $150 fsc to the truck because the charge to the customer is higher. The truck would be getting twice as much fsc in dollars or cpm even though the percentage is the same 15%. That would then lead to drivers reporting a different fsc since most/all I've ever talked to discuss fsc in cpm not in percent of tariff.
