Today I got a 605 load offer picking up tomorrow (Saturday) and delivering in Elk Grove Village Monday morning. I asked about layover pay ($75) and was told by the dispatcher it wouldn't be paid because it was delivering to a good area (Chicago Board). I was taken aback by this, thanked him for the offer and then refused it. As soon as I disconnected it occurred to me that I should have asked for $100 to counter his illogical logic. The Chicago Board for van freight usually runs about 3 or 4 loads to 1 van per day. One would think they would want to encourage vans to the area to cover this discrepancy.
Once again I embraced the stupidity and a few hours later got a 665 mile load to Romulus delivering Monday morning. I also got one day layover pay ($75). I picked up the load and am currently at home getting paid to babysit until Sunday morning. I guess Romulus isn't a good board.
Super Wow! On the cliffs of San Diego watching the sun set over the Pacific. Beautiful, but even made better when a late Friday dispatch sends on #5 this week up to Silicon Valley. So, let's thank Don Henley for his 1984 hit "Sunset Grill"
