"freight movers"

Heard there are what major companies call "freight movers", these are people who work at home mostly or small office all over USA. I was told there are 1000's of these. Major companies call them and they have a list of companies that has informed them what they charge to do a load at. Then the freight movers forward the info to the company that they awarded the contract to. Thinking of getting my own authority in near future but was interested if any one knew of this?

Very common. There are quite a few home based brokers.
Most are identifiable by only listing "home number" or just a cell number.
Basically a customer will call them with a load and the broker will put it on a board for bid. Most of it tends to be LTL freight.
The better paying loads go through logistics companies with direct customer contact.

Freight movers from what I remember when I was driving and delivering to grocery warehouses that just about all major warehouses use freight movers,Or atleast the ones I've been to.Freight movers Is a nationwide company that just loads and unloads trucks with grocery products,And Is paid mostly by the trucking company that they unloaded for.Sometimes freight movers are paid by the products company them selfs.Hope this helps...

I really think that now freight movers has most of the good paying loads and company's signed up with them. The one's your talking about Is the old way when someone would call a home phone number or cell phone number to see If they can do the load or unload and what the charge will be.Freight movers has prices already setup with the trucking company's and the warehouse ahead of time...
