No explosives on Tappan Zee Bridge
has sign says you must exit before bridge When transporting:
1.1
1.2
1.3
(1.4 is ok)
When you exit there is no marked detour for Explosives and it puts you in the land of NO TRUCKS.
If you need to cross bridge you can use the Newburg Beacon Bridge. You are suppose to call the bridge 24 hours ahead of crossing but you don't have to stop or check before crossing so if anybody asks you called and told them you were coming.

Unfortunately, Panther isn't very good on routing. We've gotten "Explosive Routing" in the past that take us on truck restricted routes. We don't usually trust them. We'll see what they come up with when we pick this up in a few minutes.
I know we'd need an escort and have to call to cross the GW, but how much irritation factor is there when doing that?

Whether or not the Carrier gives you routing it is still the drivers responsibility to insure that they are taking the correct route.
You are right Pelicn the route you are given by your carrier or your GPS is a suggested route and the buck stops with the Driver not the Company.

I know that, I was wondering what their capabilities are or are not for other reasons.

I use to haul my second wife around, she was explosive too, I never could find a bridge high enough here to throw her off of,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol,,,,,,,,,just kid,n,,,,,lol,,,,,just kid n, we are still friends,,,,,,,dont show her this, she mite get explosive

Yes, it is a good reference, but it doesn't give info for all the roads in the area, just the bridges that go into the city. That was the problem to begin with, we couldn't find the information we needed and the phone calls produced nothing.
UPDATE: We were able to use I87 to I287 then we went US 202 to PA 611 over to 276 to 476 to 95 to 495 to 95 and we re in MD now. That was the route that Panther sent.
We survived, but I doubt we'll accept another explosive load up in New England

Your CARRIER should be taking care of this, not you.Especially with explosives.Or maybe I got spolied from being at Landstar back in the day.

Have to disagree guido. It is the drivers job to confirm all routing.

Back in the day Landstar would require me to fax the bol to them BEFORE leaving the dock.Then they would either call me or fax me what correct placards to use, ensuring the shipper had the bol and placard correct, as well as the correct route.That act from them prevented possible problems/fines to the driver and carrier.What an awesome company.I'm not saying it is 100% the carriers responsibilty to route the drivers, or that we need our hand held, but in this day and age, with all of the crazy rules and regulations,we can use all the help we can to avoid any kind of problem and possible fine.Landstar was always there for that reason.
