Actually ther are 2 other classes of Expediting Vehicles A and E units
A Aunit is a small min-van or Pick Up with a cap on it,has to haul 500 lbs. Not much demand for this.
A B Unit is a 1 ton Cargo Van ,must have 9 feet available and haul up to 2,ooo lbs. Some companies require heavier hauling capacity.(very popular)
A C Unit is a small 6 wheel staight truck, must have a minimum of a 12 foot cargo box and carry up to 5,000 lbs.
A D Unit is a larger 6 wheel staight truck with a minimum of a 20 foot box and carry up to 13,000 lbs. Some companies may require slightly more on the weight.Very popular)
A E Unit is a semi trailer combination..
Bear in mind any commercial vehicle that exceeded a 10,000 lb maximun gross weight rating is subjected to all of the Federal and State DOT Rules. Most vans do not meet this requirement.
