Drive away gig

I got a local car lot that is wanting me to go to auctions and drive vehicles back to the lot. I know anything under 26000 lbs does not require a cdl you just need a med card and log books over the 10000 lb mark. I'm wondering if you need any special permits or license for this type of work. I figure the car lot has dealer insurance that covers any car or truck they purchase, so i would need some kind of liability insurance to protect me. Any one with any expertise in this area of trucking chime in

In busy areas there are driveway outfits that work the auction. Retired people and casuals.
Always thought it’d be a $7-10 per hour job.,
The trick is you have to return to the auction to get your personal car. The company runs shuttle busses or chase cars.

The dealer owns the car.
He has insurance. You’re acting as his agent.
I wouldn’t think any additional insurance needed. I am not an insurance specialist.

Go to the auction house and see if they will hire you. They will transport you back. You’ll get more work delivering cars to more than one dealership.

there is a company that is called drive away they do a lot of units of all size
you would need dealer tag or transport tag. I have done that for dealer I work for. sometimes it is take a car and trade for one and drive back. other times have a driver who takes me there, and than becomes chase car in case of break down.
