Do I Need To Have DOT & MC Numbers?

Yes, starting out myself. Got DOT and MC.

I'll add that talking around with Cargo drivers and researching the hell out of a career change, gotta do following (if running on your own):
1. Get an LLC
2. Using the LLC, get an EIN
3. Unless, you enjoy it, hire a company for DOT, MC, BOC3, and UCR. You don't want to be pulled over with out of state tags on a delivery.
4. Commercial Insurance - it's fairly reasonable for Cargo Vans. That's the recommendation from posts and my addiction to the Waffle House.

Do you have to have them? Yes. What is the real question? Do you have to have your own? No, not if you sign on with a carrier like FedEx etc. who will supply them.
