Why do some of today’s truck drivers feel the shipper or consignee owe them a place to stay for hours on end?

That seems rather bizarre for the contractors to hang out like that. Unless you are in some really remote area, I can't image that even being a consideration. And then only with permission, and man don't make a mess like they did.
When I had my roof replaced for 3 or 4 days, they wouldn't even use the bathroom I offered to them, or anywhere else thankfully. And didn't hang around
