Crime In America

The recent assault on Speaker Pelosi's husband has brought more attention to this top issue in many large cities, and the fact that it's getting worse. Now the Democrat governor of NY is claiming crime in NYC is a "conspiracy theory" instead of addressing the problem. This comes in spite of NYC police dept statistics that show total violent crime in their city is up 29.64% over last year.

Her attitude seems to represent the that of liberal leaders of all these areas that refuse to enforce existing laws that would put criminals in jail instead of allowing them to run loose on the streets. Next week we'll see if the voters agree with this ostrich-like policy on murders, rapes and felonious assaults.

There is no place to put them, they are releasing people with lower crimes to keep the ones that cant be let go. We need to build more prisons, but that costs money, are you going to ok new taxes to build them?

But in the end, there is more crime per capita in the "red" states than the "blue" cities, than has been proven over and over again.

Well if fetterman has his way the prisons will be closed and all prisoners set free.....hes done it somewhat as Lt governor of Pennsylvania(14 murders)
And no there is not more crime in red held states.....not when most cops that quit working in blue run citys moved to red states and are now working for red run citys.

There are more crimes in the cities, but the crime rate is higher in the red states, I think the per capita crime rate is more important than the total numbers of crimes.

Do you have a reference for the 14 murderers he let free or is that just one of those lies that keeps getting told over and over again.

There are obviously places to put them because the violent criminals are already there until they get released. But yes, we need to build more prisons and mental health institutions and people would certainly be willing to pay the necessary taxes to insure their safety. They already pay taxes for govt pork that's far more useless.

Comparing apples and oranges is a typical liberal ploy, and anybody that looks at the plain numbers can see through it. Look at the cities with the highest crime rates in the US: of the top 15, 12 are run by Democrats, the GOP with numbers 9, 14 and 15. As a side note, the state of IL just passed a cashless bail law; let's see how that works out.

Texas has a problem because a very inappropriately named liberal leftist activist judge, William Wayne Justice, ordered Texas prisons capped at 95% capacity. Cap them at 110% capacity. They're criminals. Too bad if they aren't comfortable. Put them in pink underwear and jumpsuits, feed them bologna sandwiches, eliminate all weights and body building equipment, and remind them every day, maybe multiple times per day, any misbehavior adds 10 years to their sentence plus loss of all privileges and confinement to their cell 24/7.

But.....but that's cruel and unusual punishment....said every liberal Democrat ever.

Im with you on that one and take it one step further, the prisoners need to earn their keep, there is no reason they cant work to earn their room and board. In todays world, set up a call center and charge less than the companies that do that in India, thats just one way to get some production out of the prisoners. As long as the warden does not get a cut (Shawshank Redemption) that is....

More details about the IL Safe-T-Act, which has become one of the single most glaring examples of Democrats' soft on crime policy in the country. One hundred of the 102 state AGs (D & R) in IL are suing Gov Pritzker over this outrageous and unconstitutional law passed by the state legislature and set to take effect Jan 1st.

"Critics of the law take issue with some of those provisions, including ending cash bail; prohibiting judges from considering a defendant's previous behavior when determining whether he or she is a flight risk; allowing a 48-hour period between the time a defendant on electronic monitoring leaves home without permission and the time authorities can charge that person with escape; and new police training policies without additional funding for departments...

If this law is allowed to take effect, you can bet your life - literally, in IL - that deep blue states like NY and CA will follow suit with similar legislation. This is a good reason why voters need to pay attention to the policies and positions of candidates running for state legislatures, not just of those running for Governor.

This is actually a good example of why you NEVER vote for a democrat. NEVER

NYC mayor Adams finally proposes a good idea to get dangerous and helpless mentally ill homeless people off their streets and into treatment facilities. As expected, the loony left squeals about their "human and civil rights" which must be more important than the rights of the tax-paying citizens of NYC. The filthy and dangerous conditions these people create need to be eliminated, and this new initiative would be a good start.

So make those complaining and denigrating the idea personally responsible for one of the people who would be affected, fully responsible, both financially and legally, and see how long they continue to object to the plan.

This is what's happening in many of America's classrooms; and we wonder why we have such a rise in crime in our cities. Ironically, this is from Brevard County, FL - not a large metro area. Incompetence of school district administrators is obviously a factor here as well.

"...(a)teacher was hit in the face with a tape dispenser, while a colleague suffered a bite mark the “size of an orange” after a student munched on her arm.
Another educator frequently had to remove all furniture from her class because kids were routinely chucking it around the room or at each other."

These incidents use to be isolated and rare when I attended grade school. Now it’s an every day thing. Give the kids an inch with the violence and they’ll just push it more and more. The parents are becoming increasingly condoning of this behavior as well.
And why are kids allowed to have their phones in the classroom? Put them up somewhere on silent until the class is over.
