Canada Coming into Canada

In the discussion on woman expeditors Rich M suggests bringing pepper spray into Canada but hidden in your truck.
BAD MOVE, you will be smuggling a resticted item and lose your truck.Customs will seize the vehicle.
Also Rich, any type of hand gun is illegal here, period.
Customs are looking for truckers carrying guns.
I am a Customs broker and would hate to see an expediter run into trouble with Canada Customs. Leave the Pepper Spray, guns and all weapons in the States.
Question - Can you leave them in a locker at a truckstop near the border?

AS a Canadian, I must concur with the above message. The attitude of Canadians re weapons and bringing them across the border into Canada is very simple, leave all that stuff at home. We have a completely different country, with a very different philosophy about the need to arm ourselves. The act of bringing weapons across the border is viewed as very serious indeed. If you have weapons with you at the border follow the directions on the signs and declare them to Canada Customs, who will tell you your options under Canadian law. We value the fact that we have a much less violent society, and our laws reflect our values, not those of the United States. Please understand that we are a soverign nation, and as such have the right to enforce our own laws in our own territory. Jim Bunting...
