Comdata

I believe, but not sure, that the fees are assessed on a company by company basis. I know when I worked for Thompson the fees were pretty high. First time I used the thing I got a rude awakening. I was under the impression it was free & found out in a hurry I was wrong. Not sure of exact fees but it was something like $44 in gas for a $50 up front advance. So a $6 fee or 12%. Something like that. Might not be the exact % but the idea is right. Fees were quite high. I started using my credit card instead.

At EGL the fee is $1 to direct deposit my check. No matter how big or how small. More of a nuisance fee than anything. If ya can afford it, put the charges on your credit card & then pay it off. Or at least put what ya can on the credit card. I'd use Com Data for the least possible amount.

Good luck,
Danny

Comdata?

$1000?

Fees?

Every run I charge the card, it cost $1.50

Every time I need money, I go to Walmart, $.50 with $100 max cash back. sometimes I will have the cashier ring up items twice so I can get $200.

I will fuel up at Pilot, first three times free.

I have used the card as a debit card at a coney stand who had a sign on the side that said it took Comdata, odd but true.

But I will not get a cash back from any truck stop because of a bad experience.

I left the checks with my wife uncase she needs money.

I have had more than $1000 on the card and know of one person who has had $5000 on the card.

I hate com-data cards. Just give me my money staight to my checking account and let me do with it what I want to!!!! You can't even get on line and check your account. I heard our trainer at panther tell some new drivers that there were no charges when you used it on fuel I started laughing and he said I was wrong and he was right.I guess he gets paid with paper cause he sure and the heck doesn't know what he is talking about. My balance always seems a little short, and some one at panther at one time awhile back got fired cause they were skimming money out of some of the accounts. Don't hold me to that cause I heard ti from someone who works there and I don't know first hand, but thats got me a little worried about my money when its in there....Hey remember lets all be safe out there..from the world famous panthervanman:7 :7 :7 ;-)

Greg I believe the fees are changing somewhat. This month to load the card once was 1.55 the next time was 1.22 and the last time was 1.00. It appears as if after using the card three times though you are still having to pay the 1.05 fee. We have started fueling as much as possible at the Flying J's using our TAB card to get away from ComDatas fees.

Thanks, I will look at my statement.....

ok looked at my statement and yep you are right, started out at $1.55 instead of the $1.50 (odd it was $1.50 last month) then to $1.22 (for 8 times) and then to $1.00. I wonder if the frequency of loading the card has anything to do with it?

Still to me, I like it. CHarge the card and I am on my way.

Oh have you noticed that even after you are finished with the load, meaning checked in to an express center, you can still charge the card. I had to do this twice but don't like to wait - it is part of my departure routine.

tried to sign up for comdata cardholder services! asked for card number...no problem. But, what's the activation code?? I wasn't given any codes from Panther. I have asked them with no response as of today. Anyone know??
Thanks,
Laura

OK....
Finally got hold of a "REAL PERSON" at comdata. They said that Panther DOES NOT ALLOW their cardholders to access their accounts online. If this is true, that's a bunch of CRAP!
I can't believe that I cannot check my direct deposits through this system. My money goes through direct deposit and I would like to see confirmations on my transactions.
If anyone knows more on this subject PLEASE let me know.
Thanks again,
Laura

You can log on and check the balance. I don't think you can view transactions, at least I don't know how to. I use it just to check my balance because there's no fee for checking it online. I think you call Panther and select an option for payroll or comdata to get that number for signing up. Once you sign up then it's just whatever username/password you choose.

Before anyone starts Panther bashing based on misinformation, We have access to comdata online and can view your transactions. We have it, have had it and have had a fleet message sent out saying we had it. It is actually a NEW service of Comdata. As for the trainer and Panthervanman.....I do believe he was talking about charges for loading your card, as I go thru the orientation with each new team, plus having been thru it myself. In that case he was absolutley correct, we are not charged when cards are loaded, only when they are used. If you like the convenience of having your payroll loaded, do it then set up for direct deposit with comdata ( thru Panther) into the account of your choosing. The transfer would cost you 1.50. Panthervanman, have you left Panther yet? You do nothing but insult or belittle every person you come into contact with at Panther.....insult the company, :censoredsign: and moan and make underhanded comments...at the point the only person or entity that is looking obscenely incompetent is yourself......Panther had no chain on you MAKING you stay, and yet you do....hmmmmm.....go figure. Personally I wish that the higher up would rid themselves of the perpetually whining and dissatisfied drivers-owners and let them be happy elsewhere. OK...back to the point activation code is usually first and last initial of driver followed by owner number.

Also as a side note, comdata can be used anywhere that takes debit cards.....not cc, but debit cards. We have used in Best Buy to buy laptops for trucks, grocery stores, walmarts etc.....casinos :p.....as owners that is....I have my drivers set up for fuel and oil only, so it depends on how owners set cards up.

Charlotte...I think maybe its your time of the month!!!! I have been with p2 for going on 8yrs and if you have read anything that I have ever said bad about p2 on this site that was bad or downed them in any way let me know what it was!!!! I like it here at p2,all I said was that the trainerwas tell the newbees wrong info. If I worked for any company I would still want my check deposited in my checking account.I called comdata and they told me I could check my balance but I couldn't see all the transaction. How long have you been at p2???? I'm not real fond of people like you that just tries to start chyt and you don't even know what you are talking about. Why would p2 want to get rid of my kind anyway? I have a prefect on time record and inservice % of 98% and I help them with all the chyt loads that the new drivers think they're to good to take.I have heard new drivers say that the problem with p2 is they need to stop hireing drivers and they have only been there a month themself. I have seen drivers turn down a 400 mile load because the fuel surcharge was only $.o8!!!!! So don't try and tell me that because I would like to get my money a differant way that I should be weeded out!!! And remember lets all be safe out there...world famous panthervanman...jim :7 :7 ;-)

Those are your words.......insinuating that someone at Panther is "skimming" money from your comdata account....insinuating that Panther trainers do nto know what they are talking about. Panther has some of the BEST trainers in the industry, anfd they make it a point to stay informed....you start bashing trainers there and I will say something.

Have you ever heard of Passive-Aggressive? Thinly veiling complaints is a pretty good indicator of that particular trait.

As far as the comment as to what time of the month it is? yes it is my time of the month...my time of the month to address imbecilic responses and chyt stirring people and defend the company that I am proud of...and your "don't hold me to it but this is what I heard" BS is part of what is wrong with this forum.....dealing in facts is so much a better way to go...don't you think? Fact is look up your comdata account and see where your money is. Now I am not going to go back and forth with you in a childish internet forum superstar argument. What you said is what set me off. I do wish Panther would rid themselves of the people that constantly complain, if you are not one of them then it does not apply to you. Stirring a pot is almost as bad as completeing the recipe. And keep in mind this is MY OPINION and everyone is entitled to one.

Charlotte dear, your the one who addressed it at me and if a trainer is telling someone that there is no charge for using there comdata card to buy fuel then maybe he is not as good as you think. you didnt answer my question about how long you have been there, cause if you where there very long ago you would have known about the skimming that happened!!! I to can state my opinion but I guess that if it doesn't agree with yours then you will put my name up on the board and bash me.You just assume that I was a p2 basher. You haven't read anything that I have wrote on here,You just tried to drag me in the mud.I try not to say anything bad about panther but when I have a gripe about how we have to get our money, its not just panther that pays that way but other companies too.As an adult I can talk to people with out feeling like if they say something about the company that I'm working for I don't take every thing to personal, until someone drags my name in and says I'm doing or saying something that they only think I'm saying. I'm with you on one point though,I don"t want to use my time on here to go back and forth with anyone, besides we both like the company you are trying to stand up for.And rember lets all be safe out there...world famous panthervanman..:7 :7 :7 ;-)

Well let's see, the question was?

Ok now that the panther fest is over with (I hope) I got to say that Comdata is a service, it is a good service and if you or your company has it set up not to allow you to see transacitons, then do something about it don't complain.

I find it odd that you can't see the transactions, how would you know what your fees are or how would you take care of your taxes at the end of the year.

Oh well I don't drive for panther and actually wonder why everyone complains about them?

When I was with Fedex I would receive a monthly printed report showing funds loaded and disbursed plus any charges associated with Comdata. They used to charge $1.55 to load the card, then you got 3 hits off that load then they would charge $1.00 for each additional transaction. I would generally buy fuel twice then write myself a ComCheck for the balance thus eliminating the $1.00 charge.

I get a monthly statement of my comdata account by email. I can go online any time in between and see what my current balance is. I use the card to buy fuel at T/A to get the substantial discount available. Other than that I transfer the money to my Bank of America account so I have full access 24/7 with no fees.

leo, when you use your card at the ta is there a charge to use it? I thought it was 1.50 every time you used it and if that is the case and I drive a van and I get a discount of lets say five cents,I can only get 20 gals or so I would lose money each time. I guess if you drive a trk with tanks that holds a lot of fuel you would come out ahead.I get a statement once a month from com data but I would like to able to go on line and see my account any time I like just like my checking account with my bank. I turn my pros in every other week and use comdata direct deposit twice a month and I still get charged for that.Is it so wrong just to want your money deposited into your checking account directly.panthervanman....:7 :7 :7 ;-)
