I just purchased a Uniden pc68ltw cb w/ wilson antennas for my sprinter, and had it installed at a cb shop. Works great until I start my van. Then I get interference, rfi, they say. The guy more or less told me to go to the manufacturer to find out what could be causing it. Has anybody succesfull installed a Cb in a sprinter? Does anyone know of a fix for me? The Cb guy is tops in our area and knew of nothing more he could do, Please help!! I spend alot of time on the road and really want the Cb.

You need a noise cancelling filter. Any good CB shop can supply this. You are getting alternator interference, more than likely.

Thanks Glen, I picked one up at Radio Shack, works great for $16.00. My brother in law says my expectations are too high!! Was cetainly an interesting day around here to have one though, with the canadian border patrol going on strike today. Made crossing here into canada a 12 mile mess on every highway lane. Some interesting chatter from some very angry and disgusted trucks. On my van I certainly get more on the CB when it's off than when it's running. Been told this is normal though. Thanks again for telling me about the filters available. So much for my qualified CB installer huh!

Don't feel too bad. My truck came with twin mirror mounts. I got an antenna warning light on my radio when I used it. Took it to the CB shop and found out because the doors are all fiberglass the antennas can't ground well enough so it works poorly and could possibly burn out the radio over time. I had to get a magnet mount for the roof. Now I get much better service. Good luck getting yours up and running the way you want it to be.
