Saw a guy with a high performance Transit that just did a Ky-Fl-Va and got 29.7 mpg.
About 400 lb payload.

Not sure what makes up a high performance Transit, but was it a high top diesel?
Actual fuel/miles calculated or dash read out?

Best I've ever been able to get in my diesel Sprinter was in the 28 's with a lot of rear end wind help ;)

Could be a one time anomaly, if the driver maintains that rate, that would be impressive.

That’s not a Transit, that’s a Transit Connect! Totally different vehicle. In that, I’m sure he did get that mileage.

Transit’s are all six cylinders and if anyone tells you they’re getting over 20 they’re dreaming. :)

The transit diesel 5 cylinder I got as good as 25 mpg
With the 4cyl sprinter I've gotten 8.2km /100 empty . Averages 9.4 with loads

Check the wheel covers. Those added a bit to the good mpg. What speed was he driving? That makes a difference too. Agreed with those who said it's not a Transit though so not a comparison to most of the guys on here.

The Connect is a friends daily driver.
To her, it’s a Transit.
I did the road trip with her last week and she had never checked the mileage.
65-70 mph.
2 adults, acouple hundred pounds in the cargo area.

Look closely at the wheel covers. Not even a valve stem hole.
Nitrogen filled tires.
