      It’s cool.
As the phone gets older it gets slower.
As the phone’s owner get older, they get slower.
If it’s at similar rates, who cares?

Oh and as an ancillary benefit ... folks upgrade their slower old phones.

      What a scam ...

      Full disclosure ... Android user

Any reason to believe there’s no planned obsolescence for Androids ?
      Maybe just wishful thinking ?

      I think it's a good point ...
Perhaps the variety of competitors in the marketplace.
Apple is the 1 company in the iphone market. No competition and brand loyalty.
If LG slowed down their phones I would imagine they would risk loosing business to Samsung, etc ..

      Rags, I get the point.
My point was that it makes people upgrade their phones sooner ....
It matters. When people are holding onto their phones for 2+ yrs .. apple wants to nudge their customers to upgrade to the latest new model.

He says no competition and in the next sentence mentions Samsung and LG.
Does he drive a van ?

iphone users tend to stay iphone users. Brand loyalty is HUGE for apple. Translation for slow expediters ..... there is no competition for Apple loyalists. It's an iphone or nothing ...
      Get with the program ....

      Why ? I wouldn’t buy anything but an I-Phone.

That's the whole point. This isn't an argument over which platform is better. The fact is many people don't switch platforms. iphone users stay iphone users. So if Apple were to slow down their phones intentionally they wouldn't risk loosing many customers. Their customers would be more prone to upgrade rather than switch platforms.

      Just messing with ya.
My 6+ would have to get pretty slow for me to upgrade.
By then it may be a choice between a faster phone,a faster wheel chair, or a faster girlfriend.
Where is the money better spent.

I have a iphone 4. It won't upgrade so I'm unable to download any apps. Anybody have same problem? Took it to verizon store and they confirmed. Only way to download apps is to purchase new phone.

      iPhone IV ?
Do you expect your your 7 year old TV to perform like modern TVs ?

      Open up that wallet occasionally.
