Hi all:
We are husband and wife considering expediting. We have CDL-A and CDL-B respectively. Husband has 11 years of driving experience and wife just earned the CDL-B. The career seems like opportunity abounds for hard workers. We think we want to work for a fleet owner vs. owning a truck to start. We don't know about some of the basics--health insurance, taxes...
There's a lot to consider since we have both worked for companies that handle all this for their employees. So we are grateful this site exists and you folks are so open and honest.

Welcome and good luck!! TAKE YOUR TIME! Read the newbies FAQ area. That may answer at least SOME of your basic questions. Then you will have a much better idea of what more pointed questions you need to ask. Stick with the idea of running for an owner. It is the smart way to start. Many choose to never own their own truck and do quite well. Others want the challenge and freedom owning your own provides. You may get out here and find out you hate it too. You sure don't want to be stuck with payments in that case.

As far as health insurance, you'll be buying your own. You may find a carrier that offers some kind of group plan, but it'll be on your dime.

First off. Spend 23 hours of every day in a walk in closet. If you have not killed each other at the end of a week, it just might work.
