Anyone have a 4.8 vortech motor in there chevy van?

I have a 2010 with the 4.8 and it has 497,000 and still going strong. Burns a half quart of oil between 10k oil change intervals. Original spark plugs lasted 450k. Trans was rebuilt at 300k. I'm not a chevy person but I was impressed with how it runs.

Both the 4.8 and the 6.0 GM engines are based on an LS block. Essentially, the are exactly the same engine on different size parts.

Both have the same flaws, strengths, and electronics as far as things go.

The usage is where things can get vastly different.

I've seen 4.8's last a year, go forever. Same with 6.0's.

Before anyone says it..... Fuel consumption varies wildly on both motors, not just the 6.0.

Treat it like the smaller engine it is.... And it will last a good long time.

I had the 6.0 and got 17.7mpg with it. If I were going at it again I'd get another. I imagine the 4.8 would be an equally good engine, just working harder since it's 20% smaller.
