    evening is there a way to check the EGR cooler?

    You'll have to remove it from the truck. Block one of the coolant ports. On the other, you'll have to attach a source of regulated compressed air. Lower the whole contraption into a bucket of water and turn up the air regulator to around 20 psi and then wait. A consistent stream of bubbles means there's a leak.
