    Frieghtliner service bulletin

There is a service bulletin on Freightliner trucks that have the dd13 or dd15. It is recommending removal of the coolant filter as they are clogging up. I believe it is all years but late model for sure. Check with your dealer for confirmation. You have been warned. ;)

    Disappointment at SLC KW

Just a heads up, if you want a computer code fixed, avoid this dealership. Had a truck get the engine light (code 2215-fuel pressure fault) and was experiencing power loss. They got us in replaced a filter and a sensor that we didn't need. Long story short, charged $600 saying they couldn't...

Bio fuel in IL & IN

Got a surprise today with a truck freezing up in WI. Got it running with a change of fuel filters and a lot of anti-gel. Come to find out from KW, that they do calls all day long from froze up trucks from IL. Both states, IL and IN, cut their fuel with 10 to 20 percent bio. Bio freezes much...

    Another Freightliner horror story

Over this last Memorial day, A/C went out on one of our Sterlings. FOD was the closest and said they could check it quick. So when we got there, they said it was a loose wire to the compressor. Ok.....no problem. Fix the wire. They said since it was under warranty, they had to replace the whole...

    Curious on truck purchase

I was curious as to how many are planning on a new truck purchase prior to the 2007 emmission models? It was a interesting question as building slots on the 2006 models are filling up. Davekc owner 21 years PantherII EO moderator

    freightliner parts

Is it just my own experiences, or do they have any parts for anything they sell? We had a breakdown from hell because of a split top radiator hose. After two road side repairs and a final tow to location, we had one delivered from Springfield, IL to Decatur, IL. When asked for lower hoses, there...

    Foreign Tires

I am starting to see a wave of new foreign tires enter the market. Truck tires like Vesta (made in China) sold through General. I see some information on Toyo and Yokahama ect. My question is, is anyone running these, and how well do they hold up? Cheaper yes, but how is their durability? We...

    Truck Build Disasters

How many have experienced a truck build disaster? This has come up on more than one occassion when someone has decided to build a truck from scratch rather than buying a spec truck. Mercedes engines

There were some initial problems with them when they entered the market through Freightliner, but the question came up with; How are they doing now? Does it seem like they got the bugs out of them ect? I had received a couple of emails and my information was somewhat dated. Maybe some of you...

    king pins

After noticing a vibration out of my front end, I had the truck put on a chassis machine. What they found was my king pins were wearing out, after 320,000 miles (Probably from too many trips to Detroit):7 Anyway, what I found out was that most trucks when coming from the factory new, use...

    tool boxes

I read a post and it got me thinking. We have the aluminum tool boxes and while they don't leak, they do get at times, condensation in them. I have to spray some of the tools with WD or they will eventually rust up. Do the fiberglass ones do this as well? Or is there a good way to eliminate the...
