    GPS nuvi problem

Has anyone else had a problem with their Garmin Nuvi [mine is a 2555] randomly displaying a frozen speedometer & miles to next turn, and both the bottom corner options limited to 3 choices: direction of travel, time of day, elevation? I want to choose time for the left one, but I want 'miles to...

    Dash cams

I've pretty much decided to get one, but my head is swimming from reading details & user comments - mostly 4 wheelers. Anyone have advice on brands, features, installation? I don't want all the bells & whistles, but not the el cheapo version, either - midrange would be about right, I think...

    I really need a geek

I've been struggling with my computer for weeks - it will not allow me to choose from a drop down menu, [either scrolls through the choices at hyper speed, or returns to whatever it was on to begin with], or move the contents of the window horizontally [will move, but only as long as the cursor...

    Garmin Nuvi recall

https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces Check the link to see if yours is affected - mostly those in the 'w' range, [200w, 250w, 260w] and 7xx [xx being a two digit number.] Mine isn't, thankfully - I'd hate to have to mail it in & wait for it's return.

    Sudden death?

My laptop (a Compaq Presario) is more than 3 yrs old now, all of it spent in the truck. I am beginning to think about the need to replace it, and wondering: is it likely to give any warning signs that failure is near? Or do they just 'crash & burn' suddenly? If the latter, I ought to watch for...

Has this ever happened to you?

Yesterday, my Garmin had a frozen screen, for quite awhile. Actually, until the battery died, I guess, because I unplugged it, and nothing changed. The top half of the screen had a map, (without enough info to identify the location), the center had a toolbar, and the bottom had what looked like...

    Quality of CDs

I've got a new hobby, courtesy of Linder Caffee, (who credits Terry O'Connell with introducing it to her): downloading audiobooks, from Audible.com. While Linder downloads hers to an iPod, I dowload to my computer, then burn them onto CDs. The cost, including the blank CDs, is about the same as...

    Satellite radio

I'd like to add satellite radio, but no one seems to know exactly which pieces/parts I need to acquire. My Pioneer radio says "Satready", which one clerk said means I just need an antenna, while another said I need the satradio kit for Pioneer. I know I need professional installation, any...

    File extensions

Can anyone explain the file extension 'bin' that is causing photos that I send to be unopenable? The photos are taken with my cellphone, then emailed to myself. The 'bin' extension only appears on some, and I don't know why.

Will extreme cold affect my laptop?

Last winter, I always brought it inside, & plugged it in while home, but now I just leave it in the van - one less thing to shlep in & out. If the temp drops very low, will that have a negative effect on the electronics?

    I really want to know!

In the interest of encouraging anyone who may be worried that their question is a dumb one, I'm asking what may well be the dumbest question ever posted: Do places that offer free wifi, like McDonald's, turn it off when they close for the night?
