    Governor

If putting a driver in your vehicle, and adding the governor is a smart thing to do. If I were going to do so I would set it at 70. I would tell the driver of the van there is one on it, and take him out to show him what it does. I would also contact my insurance broker and ask if a discount...

    designing a cargo van

Are you guys aware that if you buy a van or in this thread a cut-a-way, you can set your own pay load limit, and register it (TITLE IT) accordingly, as long as you stay under the max limit. Most states let you go down 1 and sometimes 2 classes. In other words say you buy a cut-a-way have a box...

    Insulation in cargo vans

Aren't you the same person who replied to the other thread about insulating vans? That was good info. Why aren’t you following your own advice and/or the advice Terry gave the group on the best cost effective way to insulate a van?

    Adding cruise control

Many places sell after market cruse control units, and yes most vans are pre-wired. When I bought our last 2002 GMC it didn't have cruse, and I ask GMC if they would add it as part of the package, which they did. GMC also had the van under coated at a ziebart dealer who also installed the cruse...

    Box Floors

Not really Dave, once the oil is absorbed into the wood on the underside it acts as any other material used.

    Box Floors

Another good CHEAP way to protect the under side of any vehicle is to spray the truck or van with used motor oil. I put this oil in spray cans and coat the under side of all my vans and trucks. This helps keep the water from doing any real damage to the floor and other things.

I just thought this was a nice lQQking truck....

RE: I just thought this was a nice lQQking truck.. I thought a sleeper in the box was illegal? Or is it that the Expedite Companies are the ones who don't like it? I think someone on this forum a few years ago had a heck of a time getting the company they drove for to pass the sleeper in the...

    Fuel Mileage

In my opinion you are wrong in thinking the smaller motor will save you money. Yes! You may get a few more miles per gallon running empty, but the smaller motor will have to work much harder, when loaded therefore costing more money, in fuel, for repairs, and maintenance later on. If you are...

    Airtabs, Airtabs, whos got Airtabs?

FYI I find airtabs as a driver’s personal preference. Here is a picture of an expediter using them, http://www.airtab.com/Images/photogallery/thumstraightvanfull.jpg Look at the back edge of the box for the tabs, some trucks place them on the front as well. And the site to airtab for more...

    Out Of Service ( DEER)

Bummer! To hit a deer or any animal is always a bad thing, no matter what type of vehicle you are driving. About the insurance! There is such a thing called animal insurance, which is a rider added to the policy covering said vehicle when hitting any animal, and usually has a $50 deductible. I...

    Gear Ratios

What kind of help are you providing by telling others you are not going to discuss your truck build until it is on the road? What if there is another driver sinking that may be able to save a buck or two now, because of something you are doing or may have found out with your excellent research...

6 inches short of being dock high.

Ateam thanks for pondering and pointing out the unthought-of possible problems and other issues I wasn’t aware of. Although the truck is only a 14ft box with a GVW of 12k and a forklift does not enter the truck box to load and/or unload, at times I do get loaded and/or unloaded by electric...

6 inches short of being dock high.

Hi Lawrence! It’s going! Doing okay – holding my own. As you can see the fleet is starting to grow. We’re starting to get into some bigger trucks. But! you know me though, - easy does it!!! The only reason I went bigger is because I landed a nice account with a fairly big retailer out of UT who...

6 inches short of being dock high.

My Question!!! I have a 14ft box truck that is 41” from ground to box floor. I do have a 1600lb lift gate on the truck that will raise 15”above the floor of the truck calling the gate “powers beyond”, which is a big help. I carry a set of ramps that I made so when I need to be dock high I set...

    Trade in Value

Sounds to me like they were trying to rob you without the gun!!! Maybe they thought you guys were star struck and would have jumped at their offer thinking you didn't know any better. You may even look around for a decent team to lease it to if you really want the new truck. Handling the...
