You guys already have most of the experience you need. The main thing that might be new to you is picking your loads. Have a nice long chat with your Fleet Owner about what loads to except and where to go and not to go. Because expediting is an on demand service, load selection is very important...
Start clicking on ads here at EO and talking to carriers that advertise here. A lot may depend on the year of your truck, do you have a sleeper, etc. Very hard to do expediting and stay within 200 mile radius of anywhere, that is local work.
I would not accept that offer myself. Maybe someone new might just to get some experience. If a team covers a 2000 mile run, each driver gets 1000 miles at .38 cents.

assume that once i get through school i will have to "pay my dues". I think FECC is 6 moths experience before you are able to run for them,
If FECC approves the school where you took the test,I think they will waive that 6 months experience. So you could drive for a fleet owner, right out of...
Roberts had those, they called them A units, didn't last long. I think most slept in the truck bed. I never saw one with a team though. FedEx got rid of them I think, after the buy out.
It can be done but it is tough.
I met a husband wife team who drove a T/T based in CA. Once they were loaded out of CA,they would not return until they had covered 100,000 miles, which was at least a year. Most of the work is east of I35.
Expediting rates are suffering too,but at least you don't have to unload furniture. If you have a CDL check out the Driver Wanted adds here at EO,someone is always looking. Best bet is to find a partner to team with though.
