Big Truck I work on Hino trucks. I'll answer any questions I know the answers to.

I have a friend who is a fleet owner and had some Hino's that could get his to 70 mph. He did say his wife was tired all the time from pushing it.

    2008 Hino 258

I don't believe your computer reset. I would go cheap. Replace the fuel filters.

    2006 Hino

Regardless of mileage or age, those are a true team truck. One to drive and the other to push.

    Freightliner or Hino

Do a search on them here. Then you will ask, "what is a Hino"?

    Hino "D" unit

If you like them, then that is all that matters. If you are climbing a hill in 3rd or fourth gear, how fast are they going?

    Hino "D" unit

Gee....I better go buy a Hino before it is too late.

    Hino "D" unit

Re: Hino "Diggin" unit Not sure what you are basing that assumption on? I don't believe truck manufacturers have any bearing one way or the other on the rates. I could buy a used 20k KW that would run circles around a Hino.

    Hino "D" unit

I would do a search as there are a lot of issues with these trucks. As mentioned, the biggest problem is trying to use them in a OTR application which they aren't designed for. There is a reason they have a cheap price whether new or used. Get what you pay for.

    My Hino Nightmare

Probably not going to like my answer. Since you said you had the injectors replaced, it is likely they didn't put the seals in properly. Result: fuel starts dumping into the oil and when pressure comes up, it dumps it out the blow by tube. Even more so if it is a fair amount of oil. A small...

    My Hino Nightmare

Bet your glad you lease that vehicle and they could give you a replacement while it was getting fixed. That could be a rough situation with one as a expediter. Huge losses in down time. Don't see these things in my fleet anytime soon.

ok all HINO owner & operators

Don't see that working in most cases, as the passenger has to jump out and help push it up a hill. :D

Hino trucks..Panther said to get a Freightliner instead

They also (Panther) says they can't have a speed limiter put on to go to Canada. Not sure why other than that was in a fleet message.

    Hino Nightmare

I quess along that same thought as to whether anyone has seen one of these hit the three or four hundred thousand mark? And is actually still running trouble free?

    The Hino 338

I will agree. If one is to use a class 7, the KW300 or a Pete 330 are the only ones that can hold up. They are the only ones you will see that are a class 7 being used on construction sites. Why? Because they don't fall apart and are pretty much manufactured with class eight components.

    The Hino 338

While both go from A to B It is hard to get the Yugo to do the job of a Cadillac.

    Hino Nightmare

That's awhile. We have had some crashes over the years but nothing in that time frame for recovery. But....you did get the truck on the road in less time than those six months and that took some CASH. Might have been more than that 10k?

    Hino Nightmare

When the truck runs, I do just fine getting the miles and making the payments, etc. Sure, everyone says not to buy a truck unless you have 10 grand banked up. You shouldn't need to with a new truck with a full warranty and a maintenance program. ================================= Oh....but you...

    Cummings/DD/Hino/Mercedes

I would give the edge to Cummins followed by Cat. Both are just as durable, but the Cummins wins out because it is the cheapest to rebuild. On the other side, Cat has a better warranty. We have a C9 in one of our trucks and that warranty is 750,000. Jury is still probably out on the Hino's...

    2006 Hino

I don't think one could compare a Sterling platform to one offered by Hino. Plain and simple, they aren't the same animal. We have in our fleet as well a class 8 Sterling. It has a 750,000 mile warranty for whatever that is worth. Yes, we bought them from Jon Mosier and would buy another one...
