    Garmin Nuvi

Rather than change the settings on the Nuvi [for the time zone], I got a $5.00 stick on that doesn't change with the zones, so I can see when I cross the lines. Because sometimes, I'll be so involved in my audiobook [Game of Thrones!] I don't even notice that it's an hour earlier than it was a...

    GPS nuvi problem

Last time, I called Verizon and was pretty upset over the data charges [to update the maps], and they said just bring it into one of their stores and they'll do it, lol. I didn't though, I wanted my GPS working like NOW, and it is - the updates cleared the problems. :)

    GPS nuvi problem

Ok, I guess I need to dig out the correct USB cord for connecting it to the 'puter. My one experience with updating the maps was horrendous: took hours, and ran into data over charges, so I haven't done it again. What it's doing now is something it's done before, but it fixed itself. I've had...

    GPS nuvi problem

I can see where 'elevation' might be desired for those who carry their GPS while hiking, [I love when I put 'Lowe's in the search, find one 1 mile away, select, and it asks Driving? or Walking?] but it just doesn't seem to be a more popular choice than miles to destination, or time to...

    GPS nuvi problem

Landing gear does not a plane make. And anyway, isn't that what an altimeter is for? [Not a pilot here!]:smiley_driving:

    GPS nuvi problem

Soft reset done, map data reloaded, no change, sigh. [Can't be sure about the speedometer, it's correct at 0, lol] still getting just 3 options for the bottom corner fields. [Why 'elevation' is a desired option for a vehicle is beyond me]

    GPS nuvi problem

Has anyone else had a problem with their Garmin Nuvi [mine is a 2555] randomly displaying a frozen speedometer & miles to next turn, and both the bottom corner options limited to 3 choices: direction of travel, time of day, elevation? I want to choose time for the left one, but I want 'miles to...

GPS What kind of Truck GPS do you use?

I've had Garmins for at least 10 years, and love them. I upgraded the first basic model when I found one that plays Audible audiobooks, but that was not a success, because the truck was too noisy to hear well, and no port for earbuds. Then I upgraded again to the current one [a 550, I believe...

Phones Poking a hole in your phone's battery with a knife isn't a good idea.

The only question is just how many cases of arrested development will now have to do it, lol.

Generators Any one used or using this Generator?

I did a quick drive through the Love's in Vandalia, Ohio today, and saw several XPO vans parked there, in front. Oh, and one Nations Express, too. Funny, I don't usually pay any attention to the front lot, but I wanted to get in & out quick, so I cut through the front. ;)

    Phones Bluetooth

It's illegal to cover both ears, and bluetooth headsets only cover one. When listening to audiobooks through earbuds, I can hear just fine with only one in.

    Phones Bluetooth

This won't help with the microphone, but when some things are hard to see, [and the inside of a vehicle at night is a truly low light environment], if you can make it tactile, [like Braille], it helps. I had trouble locating the 'select this' bar on my laptop, [ever notice it's off center, for...

    Phones Bluetooth

I can't tolerate anything on my head, and some units are strictly for right handed people, so my best find is the Blue Ant. Small, and excellent even in a very noisy environment.

    Dash cams

Those 'shaming' sites don't seem to be having much effect: most days, every 3rd driver I see is doing something [texting? looking at movie/restaurant reviews? updating facebook?] with their phone. They may be 'smart' phones, but they're in the hands of some dumb people. Worse is how the car...

    Dash cams

If I'm at fault, not having a camera won't get me off, either, so I may as well protect myself against what I can't control: other drivers. The hit & run aspect hadn't even occurred to me, but it's a good idea - thanks. Do insurance carriers offer discounts for using them?

    Dash cams

Um, what brand is it? I like the second camera, placing it where the blind side might prevent me from seeing what happens out of my field of vision. What all is involved in installation?

    Dash cams

I've pretty much decided to get one, but my head is swimming from reading details & user comments - mostly 4 wheelers. Anyone have advice on brands, features, installation? I don't want all the bells & whistles, but not the el cheapo version, either - midrange would be about right, I think...

    Generators Inverter or generator

That may change the first time you sit a couple days in south Texas in the summer, lol. But research the options, so you don't waste money - there's always several ways to accomplish the comfort level required.

GPS Microsoft Kills Off Streets & Trips, MapPoint

Love S&T and Garmin, too, for different tasks. Also love "The Next Exit", the book I use nearly every day, for quick reference and sudden needs [like a craving for a Wendy's salad]. I'm better at low tech, so it works fine for finding just about any & everything I might be looking for on the...
