    Kentucky Wildcats - 2015 baby!

Kentucky children will attach a basketball rim to just about anything: over a garage door, on a utility pole, a barn wall, a tree, any structure with an overhang is preferred. They will play on dirt courts, learn to dribble through gravel, play with a ball slick with mud and leave their...

    Kentucky

There was a time when freshmen weren't even in the starting lineup. Upperclassmen still reign in the mid-majors and NCAA Division II teams. Graduation rates for highly ranked basketball and football programs are poor. Vanderbilt being an exception.

    Kentucky

Kentucky Wildcat basketball fans are just that- fanatical. I grew up in Eastern Kentucky listening to sportscaster Cawood Ledford call UK ballgames on AM radio. Cawood was a legendary fixture on the UK sports scene for nearly 40 years. Toward the end of the short video linked below, listen to...

    For Pete's sake

I am hoping Pete's induction is not posthumously granted. He was and is a great ambassador of baseball. How many hits or times-at-bat does Selig have? How many times did Giamatti bring 50,000 people to a wild standing ovation? Put Pete to a vote.

    For Pete's sake

Major league baseball just hasn't been the same since it chose to shun Pete Rose. For 20 years, no player brought more excitement to a game. It's time to do the right thing: put Pete on the HOF eligibility list and restore him to good standing. Pete talks with Greta: Pete Rose on Hall...

    Louisville defeats Michigan State 57-44

Rick Pitino continues to be college basketball's premiere coach. He routinely defeats a better opposing team. Pitino has taken 3 different schools to the Final Four.

    College B-Ball

The University of Louisville Cardinals draw huge crowds as well. Rick Pitino is the best basketball coach I have seen. He won a lot of games while coaching UK on the strength of his will alone. Great coaches find a way to win even with mediocre talent. Can you imagine winning with the likes...

    Muhammad Ali vs. Mike Tyson

I think you're probably correct, NC. The one big weapon in Tyson's arsenal was brute strength measured in ft/lbs delivered to an opponent's jaw. Ali had power, but lots of smarts, ring savvy and finesse. If Ali survived the first round with Tyson, I suspect Ali would have won.

    Muhammad Ali vs. Mike Tyson

Ali was incredible. I am struck by how fierce Tyson could be in the ring. I don't have the statistics, but seem to remember Mike Tyson had several first-round knockouts to his credit. Some within the first minute. Tyson was much smaller than Ali, but Tyson had a ferocious bite, according to...
