I believe it was Michigan University that did a study on this and showed that the zipper move worked best with out creating the mile long back ups. At first I didn't believe it. But after actually seeing it in place in a few states, I have to say it does a much better job at keeping the traffic...

The only signs I really have a problem with are those being waved around by the street. I think they are a major distraction and should not be allowed.

I think it can also a safety factor. You don't want to tap on my window until after I've had my morning coffee :p
