What to bring to my first day?

Would help to know what you will be doing. A good GPS and phone plan, plus pack your stuff in smaller size bags.

    Van Expediting time windows

Our carrier uses 50 mph, sometimes they leave out time to actually get loaded. Most of the time there is no time aloud for figuring out the route, stowing away stuff and getting under way. Before accepting the load 50 mph is quick to figure. So one can determine if it is really deliver direct!

    Sprinter running cost

Knowing your approximate CPM is important, but the variables of this business diminish its value. If the business can allow 1/3 of your gross to be used as the operations fund, not counting fuel. Then you’re in the ballpark for most problems and annual expenses.

Why expedite if you have a CDL?

Money for a employee is good with big truck, if it works for you. Vans can return good money with the right setup, for a O/O. There are broke vanners, and big rig shoes.

Why expedite if you have a CDL?

It’s kinda a life style choice, for over the road. Wife will not drive a big truck, so no brainier for me. I maintain my class A with all the endorsements but passenger, just in case.

Just started, questions about van life (Ram Promaster 2500)

Sleeping with your head in the sleeping bag is a big no no. The bag gets all the moisture from you breathing, cools, then freezes, not good! Generators are not a good source for heating, but if that’s your thing, it’s better then wearing out the engine. Espar type heater, will pay for itself in...

Cargo Van I have no idea how I got here but this is neat.

Check local courier type outfits, like CEVA. Vehicle size is a little small, for over the road type expedite work.

    Cargo Van Hometime

Where you live, you might be able to get close that kind of schedule. For sure there will limits, that might make it hard to be profitable. Your own van, (long and tall) and a larger or the right small carrier, look at all the overhead cost real close. The van market is crazy, loads to van ratio...

    Sprinter van newbie - status?

Yes, wife and I team. I posted our rate above, it takes some kind of accessory pay, to get the paid miles to a buck. Hand load or unload, muiltiple stops, detention, some real short loads, pay better. But we look at total miles, including where to go after the drop to figure if a load is doable.

    Sprinter van newbie - status?

We just ran a load overnight, Nashville area to Dallas area. 700 ish miles, 3 drop locations, right at a buck a mile. Our contract rate is .80c per mile, plus 11c fuel. The 2 extra stops helped that run, pay wise. Now we sit with half a dozen vans/sprinters at a truck stop. Two would you could...
