What is required on a 26k

If running inTRAstate in California, they have a certification process for carriers, much like PUC. Not sure where to obtain the permitting off hand, but I an ask around. I have a friend who runs a CA based carrier. Ever seen that CA# on the side of a truck, along with all the others?

Wow! Stuck in Texas for 3 days, gotta refuse loads down here from now on.

If you're a van running for three different carriers, there is a good chance that all 3 are quoting that load out, which means that you just created a false supply in the industry and shot your own rate out from under yourself.

    info please

Don't even bother looking at Class 8 trucks if they have less than 3 axles.

    Panther Sitting at Truck Stops

Very true. Expedite is a waiting game, and impatient expediters tend to make very bad, costly decisions for themselves. There are very few areas of us that I would venture to call a bad area. Some choices might prove to be wiser than others, such as a solo into southern Texas might not prove...

How is your 2012 so far?

The first few weeks were definitely tough for us. The funny thing was, we had almost as many phone calls, just as many emails, but we found ourselves fighting to book things we normally didn't have to fight for. However, there were more instances than normal of quotes being accepted, then...

Troopers: At least 9 dead in wrecks on I-75 in Fla

Most times it does happen suddenly. There was a bad one about 2 years ago on the northbound Turnpike! Just south of Orlando. There was a Panther D unit that got caught in the mess after a log truck at the front of the pack lost its load.

Should I hang in there or move on to another Carrier

I think the first misconception about expenses is the fuel surcharge. It's a surcharge, not a "charge." The fuel surcharge was instituted to offset the cost of running when fuel rose about about $1.25 a gallon. It may or may not equal the actual cost of running, which is why the one buying...

    The Perfect Day-

Because this is expedite, most times we are being called one because it ISN'T the perfect day for someone involved. Unfortunately, some of those imperfect elements get passed on to us, in conjunction with the freight.

    Nicest truckstop bathroom

The Davis Travel Center on I-85 in VA is really nice as well. Maybe the largest truck stop shower room you'll ever change in.

    Penske

I know that EO ranks very high on Google for just about anything, so someone scouring the web could find the post very quickly. But I guess I'm beginning to wonder if both posts didn't originate from the same computer. Dreamer?

Preserving your mental/emotional well-being on the road

So, any advice for newbies learning to pace themselves on the road? How do you pass the time, when you have more time on your hands than expected?

Yes, I would like to know what IP info the webmaster is able to obtain on this coincidence.

    New HOS Rules are out

If ya don't like it, it's time to call your Congressman, and OOIDA know that this isn't funny. It's no surprise that this went down so close to Christmas, and when everyone else in Washington is concerned about a payroll tax deal.

Preserving your mental/emotional well-being on the road

After talking to one of my new drivers this morning, it got me thinking about how important it is for anyone driving over the road, to preserve their sanity. Being away from home for days or even weeks on end can take a tolls on one's well being, in a mental/emotional way. I have found that...

    Penske

I don't know if the used Penske truck guy is normally on here or not. I do know this. Many companies have employees whose main job is to monitor social media. They do it to preserve the reputation of their brand. My brother-in-law started working as the creative director for a hotshot...

    Fedex delivery

Why should the owner contact Fedex privately instead of posting on Youtube? This is the age of open source intelligence. This isn't the Cold War, where guys in the CIA know a bunch of stuff about folks that no one else knows. This one video will do more to raise the bar of excellence in...

    Police Harrassment

My friend and I were pulled over many years ago in I-75 in Houston County, GA, where we were sited for "speeding." (He said we were doing 69 in a 55 zone. My friend had the car on cruise at 55 the entire time.) He seemed VERY nervous with his hand firmly on his sidearm, as he even made initial...

You'll take it from my cold dead fingers!

Of course. That's why I commented. We think we will somehow be exempt, just because we use a headset. But yes, I still hold that it is a violation of our liberty, because it is merely aimed at one sector of the community. TRUCKERS. My right to use a handheld phone certainly ends when...

You'll take it from my cold dead fingers!

I was surprised at how many people on here thought it no big deal to have this kind of violation of liberty passed, simply because they thought it was a decent law and they already used a headset. It's a slippery slope that has no business on the books.
