Thinking of Purchasing a Straight truck and going Solo. Have experience in Expediting but was wondering what others thoughts were on this?

Are you asking about running solo or about those 2 carriers? Or are you asking about difference between straight truck or van? Running solo - many have done/are doing it successfully and many have failed. There are more than those two carriers to choose from. Choose carefully. The wrong...

    Straight Truck vs. Expediting Van

I will agree on the saturation of the van market. I would also agree that if you are new to the trucking industry, that you try driving for an owner first to see if you like/enjoy the lifestyle. However, you do not have to spend upwards of $250K to get a truck, you do not have to stay out 30...

    Xpo or Landstar

Tonys_Corner316 , keep in mind that if you know the "hotspots" for Fedex, it does not necessarily apply to other carriers. Landstar and XPO may have different "hotspots". Note on sprinter type vans @ Landstar - Last I heard they were NOT putting anymore on UNLESS you already have contacts...

How Has Electronic Logging Changed the Trucking Industry?

Solo. Straight truck. Liftgate. Dry box. @ Landstar. My revenue is up 30% over this time last year. I have to turn down more loads than are offered. Also have to take time off rather wait for a lull, as there haven't been many.

    Your opinion please

Factors to consider Carrier Fuel efficiency of the trucks Available fuel discounts Solo or team Dispatcher or self dispatch Paid deadhead 60/40 should put more money in your pocket if the truck is fuel efficient and driven correctly.

what are the average per mile rates for LandStar Express America?

In my experience here at LEAM, You can do well with a single axle straight at LEAM, but with a liftgate you can do much, much better. I've done both and prefer the liftgate loads.

what are the average per mile rates for LandStar Express America?

Not the best photo, but it shows moving pads ( folded on top shelf), load bars ( decking beams) , rubber bands ( hanging on front wall) and pallet jack ( secured) among other various equipment I carry.

what are the average per mile rates for LandStar Express America?

On the liftgate subject, check to see the weight rating of it. Each lift gate have a weight limit. Do not over load it. Consider the weight of the freight, pallet jack and you for a total weight being lifted or lowered, not just the freight.
