I bought a 98 Century Select Truck from Davenport Freightliner. I had 13 months of headaches. They warrantied a head gasket only because I had it diagnosed elsewhere. Nothing else seemed to be under warranty for one reason or another. My experience with Freightliner shops would be high rates and...
When I was O/O driving T/T I used Total Fleet Service on Rt 30 in Ft Wayne, IN. Quality work and decent shop rate. They jack up the front axle when they lube. Frame Service, also in Ft Wayne, did quality work at higher shop rate.
I drove a Freightliner that had a air mattress in it. I don't know for sure but I think it was a factory option. Most comfortable mattress I ever slept on. I bought a Coleman air mattress to lay over the regular mattress in the next truck I drove and although comfortable it was too light and...
Other than putting chains on a 1958 Chevy about 45 years ago I have never chained up a truck but this is how I would do it. Put a block under each inside tire and drive onto it then chain up. Drive off and re-tighten. Pick up wood and go.
A major T/T carrier once asked me if I knew what the chains hanging off the side of the tractor were for. I answered "to balance the battery box on the other side?"
Cheri do a Google search on tools, tire step. Amazon, Marco, Snap-On sell them for about $30. They fit over the front tire and hang with a step attached for you to stand on. Not sure but I think some fold flat for easy storage.
Company put me in a brand new 2010 Cascadia with a DD13 and Eaton Fuller 10 speed, no idea which rears. I drove it 1 1/2 years and broke down twice. Average 6.7 mpg all miles and idling. Very quiet, a lot of room and plenty of power. Other units were less reliable so they switched to...
From reading the AirTab website my understanding is the air tabs are the same for sides and roof UNLESS it has a translucent roof. Then you need need air tabs with a different adhesive.
I owned a 1992 International 9700 COE (flat top with a set back steer axle) and the aerodynamics of a refrigerator. I started adding MotorKote every 4th oil change and got 1/2 mpg better fuel milage. Had 1,267,000 miles on a Cummins N-14 when I sold it.
I drove a company truck with a ProHeat apu many years ago. Great when they worked but so many problems he removed them and installed the Nite? System and Espar bunk heater. He also had some type of heater, maybe Espar, on a timer that the driver set to heat the coolant. I think it was set for 2...
Rocketman thank you so much for finding that article. I thought it was well worth reading. And a special thanks to Moot for taking the time to to write everything down.
