I believe you can get a DOT physical at a Walk in Clinic (I have). As long as it's on the correct form you shouldn't have a problem.

    Howdy from NE TN

I would suggest you look in Classifieds for a used Ford E 350 ext Van. Something that may be already set up. A new Van will be expensive if you change your mind about the life style. In the Expedite Now magazine on line edition. There should be a way to access back issues\columns. Look for...

New to expediting (old to 18 wheeling)

Mr. Turtle's set up is a well thought out very clean, precise job. He seems to feel comfort is more important then an occasional third pallet.

    New here from panther!

I have never been a whiz at math. If your getting (just for example) $1.50 per loaded mile for a 1000 mile run. $1500.00. With 500 miles dead head you just reduced your profit by $167.00, I think:rolleyes:

If you want to spend time, quality or other wise with your children. You wont do it Expediting unless you take them with you. You may find Courier work near you. But looking to clear a grand a week after expenses I think your going to sadly surprised.

Truck Driver Now Maybe Cargo Van?

I don't believe your understanding the dynamics of this type of business. If your going to Cuba or Rolla each day that's one thing. If your going to Laredo or Atlanta it will be a bit costly to drive home after each delivery. A general rule will be most companies will expect you to...

    Recruiting Manager

The "Union Entitlement" mentality is all over this country in the last few years. Not just in the Expediting community. Over in Mansfield, Mo there is a little Steel plant. When work started to slow down the Goverment stepped in and said we'll pay you 80% of your pay per day if you...

With all the talk of Insurance. I'll post again. Transport Insurance out of Toledo. 2002 Ford E 350 ext. One million Liability, one hundred thousand Cargo. $42.50 a MONTH $10.63 a week. If $11.00 a week hurts. You shouldnt be out on the road.

I don't recall what Bolt Express took for Qual Com. My Insurance through Transport Insurance Agency in Toledo $42.00 a month for one million liability and one hundred thousand cargo. From what I've read here lately, if Panther is paying $.97 per mile it's a very recent raise.

With "NO WEEKLY DEDUCTIONS" $.88 a mile could go a lot farther then $.98 with a $100.00 or more coming out every week.

    On the road with Tri-State

I would suggest for just starting out always try and save your money. Don't go looking for ways to spend it. While your sitting try a used Book Store. Readings a lot less expensive then movies.
