    Agricultural Stations

Yea, us Michiganders should be questioned before entering Ohio, to see if we REALLY want to enter a place like Ohio or not.

    NEW SPRINTER OWNERS

Hmmmm...3 times as long on oil changes, in a diesel? Not for me. I wouldn't go any longer. Diesels contaminate oil faster than gas engines do. No advantage for the Springer in this catagory.

    Mercedes engines

I currently drive for a large carrier. The account I work at has several Fr8liner daycabs with the 410hp Merc engine. We haven't had any major engine problems. They are running steady with around 250,000 miles on them so far. They tell us not to run out of fuel with this motor because you...

Idling vs. shut down and restart?

I've been driving a semi for 12 years and was always amazed at the number of drivers that idle their truck in perfectly beautiful weather. They are, I believe, just creatures of habit, stuck in a rut. They just don't take the time to think about what they are doing. They'd rather sit in the...

UNDER 10,000 GVWR & DOT REGULATIONS

I did lots of research on this topic myself. You are correct that a vehicle of 10k lbs or less is not a "commercial vehicle" and is not subject to the FMCSA rules. You will have to obtain authority from the state you will operate in. In Michigan, it's the MPSC. Other states will require you...

    operating authority

Well, there sure has been a lot of advice given in response to my question, but many of them don't answer the original question. I've done some research and have found out that the 10k gvwr trucks in question are not, by definition, commercial vehicles and are therefore exempt from all Federal...

    Ford "sprinter"??

Last Friday on I-94 in Detroit I saw what I thought was a Sprinter in front of mee. I noticed that it looked a little different as it didn't have the center brake light on top. As it was exiting the freeway, I was close enough to see the blue Ford oval on the right rear door. The name on the...

    operating authority

We talked to someone that arranges for authority for drivers. She told us that since our trucks are not over 10k gvw, the only authority we need is MPSC authority. That's what we would get from the state of Michigan. That would allow us to go intra and interstate, without the need for Federal...
