    Freight Mail Dot Com

I looked at freightmail- all they do is email you ALL the nationwide freight. They say you will get 50 - 100 emails PER DAY. That isn't useful, that's just spam.

    Freight Mail Dot Com

I looked at several about 6 months ago. I can tell you that despite their name expediteloads.com has almost 100% tractor / trailer freight. getloaded.com didn't seem too bad.

So that I can stay on topic

Not only the short runs, what straight truck team is going to be able to live on hauling a 5# box of fittings to an auto plant? The answer is NOT that the customers will just have to pay more. Remember that a lot of expedite is for JIT manufacturing, and can be eliminated by simply carrying...

Am I right or wrong, you peers be my judge

I doubt that was the reason the last driver quit, unless it was because he had to pay the pile of tickets from running illegal. You were right to refuse to run the truck. The owner of the truck probably has no idea of the regulations himself. When I was younger I ran trucks like that and never...

    Do not call list

Sorry but anything from a chain email should be checked first. What does it take, 30 seconds to type it into a search engine? When was the last time you saw a chain email that was actually real? This particular one is only irritating, there are some that are malicous. I.e. the ones that say...

    Incorporated or not?

No way should you do business as a sole proprietor. My reasoning has nothing to do with taxes, it has to do with shielding your personal assets from the business' liabilities. My business (a towing company) is set up as an Ohio LLC (Limited LIABILITY Company). I file taxes the same as a sole...

    WHY DO EXPEDITORS LIE !!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the guy was just bad at math and "thought" what he was driving was 4500 miles.

    heading out, need advice

Wet Wipes. For the times when you can't get a shower and can't stand the smell of yourself anymore. Books. Yea you're gonna sit. The Detroiter truck stop has / had tables full of cheap used books. Food and a electric cooler. I liked to carry Slimfast shakes, you could "eat" without stopping...

    Finding loads on my own...

The DOT will send you a whole list of records you must show them for your new entrant safety audit. They can suspend you from Interstate travel if they don't like what they see. It doesn't matter if you're an owner / operator, you need to have records just like you are an employee of the business.

    Finding loads on my own...

You will need to be registered with the US-DOT as an Interstate Motor Carrier with your own authority, and have to meet their insurance requirements which are quite a bit more than your run of the mill "automotive insurance". You will also have to have permits to run in whatever states you will...

I thought it was loaded right

I had that happen once in a 'pup trailer, with me and another guy inside of it..... Hmmmm I discovered the principle of leverage. The two of us didn't move far, we were at the front of the trailer and only dropped a few feet. But try climbing to the back of the trailer that was now 20' up in...

Yep time for a strike - thanks GM!

RE: Strike sort of over - I have to agree with the previous couple posts. Things have changed with the new contracts (known as COA Competitive Operating Agreement and MOA Modern Operating Agreement). The plants my family worked in (Cleveland) got rid of the timeclocks and the security guards...

Yep time for a strike - thanks GM!

    >As Gregg mentioned, 125,000 a year per employee certainly >works out to be way above 20 something an hour. That does >include the benefits in that number. > >Davekc >owner >23 years >PantherII >EO moderator To make 125K a year they would have to work 80 hours a week. That means working...

Yep time for a strike - thanks GM!

    Is this Offensive?

With so many people trying to scam these days I automatically say "NO" to almost anything people ask me. I know when I was in a small truck I went without showers because of the cost, and I would have been happy for a free one. It's a hard call. Calling out over the CB seems the best way, but...

    Latest on Mexican Trucks Issue

Do you really "want" to take freight into Mexico? Or to put it another way, do you want to take yourself and your valuable truck (and valuable American dollars) into Mexico to be held hostage by the police or worse?

    Tires

Just a note on dual tires. If you run the SAME pressure in both tires, the inboard tires will carry more weight because of road crown. The outboard tires should have a few more PSI than the inboards so that they are equally loaded. ALL roads are crowned for water drainage.

i need a witness to prove i am not a liar

I read the original post as well as I could considering. From what I can infer, it sounds like the driver dropped the wheels into a ditch or gully and the truck tipped over.

A Question For Expediting Veterans About Recession

RE: A Question For Expediting Veterans About Reces >To make a comment like that, you must spend your whole day >on Air America where they think 4.5 % unemployment is a >recession. We've had the best economy for the last 7 years. > Thank God for the Republicans and the tax cuts. The...

    load boards

U-ship just boggles the mind. But most of the listings are done by the public that has no idea what it costs to move freight.
