    Are You...........

Been stuck in Miami for 3 days now. If we don't get a load offer in the next 8 hours, the truck sat the entire day and no one would no whether we are striking or not! At least the weather is great here!

    Clean it up!

Early March we found a very nice Walmart in Milpitas, CA just north of San Jose. It was in a nice shopping center and they allowed us to park overnight. This was great because there are no real truck stops in this area. We went back to that same area last week and was looking forward to...

    Need Advice!

We just started with FedEx early January. We've had some down time with our new "used" truck and FedEx has been keeping us busy. Been out 5 weeks since our last hometime and out to west coast and back twice. There was a 3 day down time in San Jose/Oakland, but with 75 degree weather, it wasn't...

    O/O $500 a week too much

Just remember, when you buy a Freightliner, you will need two loans, one for the truck and one for the repairs!

    Women in Trucking

My husband and I have been expediting since mid January, we started last year training and driving the "big rig" at Warner, but soon decided we would be happier expediting. While I was in training at Warner, I looked up WIT and found one article that I thought was good and a bit informative...

    Favorite stretch of road

We gotta agree with I-84 in Oregon and I-5 in northern California too, but also: I-90 in New York, just saw over 100 deer at dusk one evening I-80 going into Salt Lake City, just saw close to 1,000 deer there in one day! I-70 going east into Denver I-76 going into Akron, Ohio because...

    Ohio Winter

Typical Ohio weather! We've been lucky and runing around California, Arizona and New Mexico the last 4 weeks, but all good things must come to an end as we sit here in Columbus, Ohio!

    Understanding Return on Investment (ROI)

Return on my investment? You mean there is a return? Seems like: The truck stops get 33% The truck payment and maintenance get 33% Walmart gets about 33% Sometimes I get what's left! Isn't that about right?

    The Longest Layover

City: LA Days/Hours: 3-1/2 days How did you pass the time? Got a motel over the weekend, time flew! Watched NASCAR, walked, window shopped, worked on the truck, enjoyed the weather, 70 degrees, much better than the ice and snow storms of the mid-west! Did you leave loaded or empty? Loaded...

    Sales tax on APU

Yep, picked the truck up today, filled out a tax exempt form with EIN, PUCO and DOT numbers and did not have to pay Ohio sales tax on the APU. This saved about 600 bucks. Thanks for the input everyone!

    Sales tax on APU

Sorry, It's a used 2004 truck. They are not trying to tack on the 12% excise tax (which is a total crock for all of the benifits of the APU, I would think the feds would give us a tax BREAK for anyone installing an APU on a new or used truck!), it's the 6% (or so) Ohio sales tax I'm questioning...

    Running in -25 Temps

We just got into driving semis last summer and bought our expediter late December and was out about 5 weeks January/February so far. We are already talking about either hibernating next winter or spending the the winter in Key Largo, waiting for that one in a million load!

    Sales tax on APU

We are having a Powertech APU installed on our truck at Fyda Freightliner in Columbus, Ohio. They are telling me we have to pay Ohio sales tax on this, almost $600. Does any one know if these are sales tax exempt like our truck was when we bought it?

    Road Rage

We haven't had any road rage problems in our expediter truck yet (only a week run time so far), but last fall while driving a fully loaded Werner semi in Indy on I 465, I had some moron in a gold pick up truck (with a big Colts emblem on the window) slam on his brakes twice in front of me...
