Class 8 owners how's your mileage?

My first truck was a 2001 Century with a 500 HP Cummins and the Smartshift auto(driving for a F/O). It had about 350k when it was converted. Once I learned to program the computer for the tranny, I would usually average between 10-11 MPG. Add a heavy load or lots of hills and mileage would fall...

    Questioning 60/40 split for contractors

Here's a big issue that I haven't noticed being discussed. 60% of what? Panther has two contracts, the old one pays, I believe, 10 cents more per mile. Additionally, fleet owners may take 40% of fuel surcharges and accessorials too (I know one that does), others may take 40% of some...

    Questioning 60/40 split for contractors

I must question the fleet owner paying the fuel concept on both perspectives. As a driver/contractor, do I want to be obligated to call the F/O every time I have to make a decision? Isn't this crossing over into employee territory? As F/O (I am not, but think about it alot), I don't think I...

Can we switch between team and solo?

I have the same experience as Charlotte. I would add that both people need to be present when you call safety to go back in servie as a team. Aside from getting through on the phone system it is not a problem.

    Response to Greg's post

Johnny Unitas was once quited as saying, "You make your own luck." I believe there is alot of truth to that.

    The past week

I tried to rate you some more for teaching your kids how to shoot but the system wouldn't let me. Good parenting, kids who are educated about firearms are much more comfortable to be around.

Greg, I do not advocate the kind of dumping you have insinuated me with. You have accomplished a nice thread drift however. Recipe: 1-Throw arrows 2-Rant 3-Change subject 4-Tell a story Hey, you obviously have some great experience that you are willing to share. Thanks for that. Can you share...

    >Yea, get the jug and don't forget to be a real trucker and >either dump the contents out your window when it is half >filled or throw it out the window while your at a rest stop. I find people that do that disgusting. I do not do that. Perhaps you would like to offer an alternative instead...

Definitely gloves for fueling, and wet wipes for any time your hands get dirty. otherwise you will get dirty hands which get the wheel dirty, shifter, soon you will be chasing dirt all over because you did not keep your hands clean. If you have a microwave you can keep a lot of food on hand that...

    How are solo's doing?

Thanks for clarifying that JB. Personally I feel that is a little high, but certainly possible. To be home for the weekend (Indianapolis) I am shooting for 1,000. You could get 1,800 for the week if you stayed out but how sustainable is this considering the 34 hour reset. I don't want to be...

    How are solo's doing?

Don't try driving for Panther with a "comic book". They are "by the book" and you will be history with a black mark. If you want to be a sneaky driver, perhaps you should stick to the "cb" and stay off the internet. You may consider that a legitimate company may watch this site. PS I hope Jack...

    Inaccurate Mileage

Yes, different Panther customers use different mileage calculators. You must consult the map and determine your route (with cost and time)before you accept the load.
