As long as you are looking you might want to check out a 4500 in that once you're loaded with all your stuff you'll still be able to carry a decent freight load (lbs wise). I think you might find the pricing to be not much different.

If you're going to pull trailers other than the slight difficulty of getting into tight spaces the longer the wheel base the better the ride...If your going to add a box and make it a straight truck I would talk to a couple of dealers familiar with the setup..a good possibility that you will...
