    Insurance Claim Denied

I can't get into the exact details but: Some time ago we arrived to pick up a load at a freight dock to carry on to the end delivery. It was one box. The freight was a mess. The box was trashed, broken, and the shock sensors had been tripped. It was clear that what ever was inside this box...

    Replacing batteries

I just replaced 4 in our Volvo 780. We went to Sam's club and got them for $96 each. They are 950 CCA. This wasn't the lowest price but it was the highest CCA we could find while OOS. As far as I am concerned the CCA is all that matters when it's minus 5 outside and you have to start the truck.

    APU come through!

We have spare belts on the truck along with the usual stuff and I thought I'd end up busting knuckles in the dark until I saw the blown bearing. As it turned out, the belts proved to be a big hassle for the Volvo tech in daylight in the shop. I'm glad the APU did the job. I can't say enough...

    APU come through!

My APU may have just paid for itself in tow bill! Headed west out on I-20 across Texas on our way to Phoenix the idler/tension-er bearing on the alternator belt blew out. This took out the belt right away alone with it. It was about 9 PM local. 10 hours from delivery in the darkness of the...

Mississippi DOT, teach your security gaurd some manners!!!

We had a similar incident at the Mississippi I-10 rest area Exit 2 only with a middle-aged white guy sporting a Beretta 92 sidearm. We had only been on-site a few minutes and had not left the truck when he approached the drivers window and started in on the rules of the rest area. We had not...

    Need help asap!!!!!

If you have a contract, it can not be changed without both parties agreeing to the changes. I'd tell him he's out of luck, I was happy with the written agreement and keep running the truck (if that is what you want to do). Can you imagine a dealer selling you a truck and after you had paid on...

    Volvo issues

Bye the way, I did keep the old harness even though they didn't want to let me keep it.

    Volvo issues

On my 2008 780 the injector harness is the whole enchilada. The entire harness to every electrical component. The harness itself ran about $800 and the rest was labor, I am lucky the dealer only charged me (I guess) the book rate rather than the actual time his techs spent on it (could...

    Volvo issues

Thank you for the sentiment. I worked with both the shop and the original dealer to bring this to Volvo's attention. Two different regional managers supposedly reviewed this and determined that Volvo wasn't interested in covering any part of the repair. I truly expected them to cover the parts...

    Volvo issues

2008 Volvo's came with a 250,000 mile warranty on major and some minor components. I guess I could have purchased the extended but I never expected the injector harness to be allergic to oil. I had heard of harness failures but they were on trucks with 2-3 times the miles.

    Volvo issues

I'm just now finding the words. Three weeks ago we were in the MN cold when our 2008 780/D13 started running rough. Checking the unit I found a code for the 6th injector. We started towards the closest Volvo service center when the issue appeared to resolve itself and we continued to...

    One Dispatcher over another

Anyone who thinks they have never been had by their carrier is either a fool or a liar. The deal is the old "fool me once..." You must be be living in a neat world where you have never 'been had' even once by your carrier or maybe your carrier always puts the contractor first ahead of their...

    One Dispatcher over another

Driving for 15 years, Expediting for the last 3. You must play it safe, be comfortable in your traffic lanes, or maybe just unaware to not have had a dispatcher lie or omit important info on a run. Stuff like letting you know that the consignee requires the driver to unload the freight to a...

    One Dispatcher over another

"So you are saying that you wouldn't accept a great load from a dispatcher that you don't like, but you would accept a crappy load offer from someone that you did like?" No, Your logic is like some of the dispatchers. What I have learned is that some dispatchers can not be trusted to give...

    One Dispatcher over another

There are several dispatchers I will never accept an opportunity from at the first offered rate. We'll either get what we want or let the run go to another truck. This is due to these dispatchers either omitting important info or flat out telling lies about what is required on a load. There...

    Interesting Loads

We had picked up a 4400lb tank of a special liquid and delivered it straight through to an unnamed paper plant located in the south arriving about 02:00. I was told that the entire facility was waiting for this shipment and that had we not made it on time, the plant would have had to shut...

    It finally happened

Well it finally happened on PA I-70. I had been waiting for the time a bear would bounce down a wooded hill and out in front of the truck and it indeed happened only my wife was at the wheel. I had just come out of the sleeper and got a real good look at the bear while she avoided the bear and...
