    Nation's Express ???

I drove for Nation's in 05 and in a van. Being a van limited me on what loads I could take, like it would anywhere. Dispatch always blamed me for not getting loads telling me I was not signed on properly on the QC. They were very slow in paying and very slow on loading money onto the card to get...

    Unofficial loads

I have been told by one carrier no loads on your own while another has sure go ahead. Keep in mind it will vary from carrier to carrier so just ask. For those that will allow it they will more than likely ask for part of the 'cut'. Either way ASK BEFORE YOU MOVE IT!

Safety records, authority of trucking companies

RE: Safety records, authority of trucking companie No. It was a FL-70 automatic, I belive a 2000. It had a bent window frame right at the drivers door. About 475,000 miles. Not a bad truck for a rookie!

Safety records, authority of trucking companies

RE: Safety records, authority of trucking companie OOPS!!!!!!!!! Sorry about that, Hawk knows more of the story so I was taking a shortcut there - but what I mean where you dont think I am in the wrong is that he has one heck of a hefty repair bill at a shop he needs to pay before they will let...

Safety records, authority of trucking companies

RE: Safety records, authority of trucking companie No drug test no nothing. In fact, I dont know if I told you this but he did not even ask for a copy of my CDL or medical card! He never really knew if I had one, I do of course, but, he actually just took my word - he never even met me face to...

Safety records, authority of trucking companies

I had someone ask me tonight how they could check out the safety record of the company his was driving for. Well, since I WAS driving for someone who lost their authority to be on the road, I kind of found out from a DOT officer. While it was a HUGE ticket for them and JUST lost time for me-...

    Laredo, TX

I have made it a point when I sign on with a company I have to be given the right to find my own loads if I set for more than 24-hours. Now, I don't know if everyone does that, but Bolt Express who I am signing up with will allow me to do that after 24-hours, weather I turn some of their loads...

    Bolt Express Questions

Hey Hawk, I will not be signing on till this coming Tuesday as long as they and I can get the bs drug test thing set up before then along with the other typical paper work. If not right after Thanksgiving though! I almost went with Turri Transportation out of Michigan but I kinda like Bolt a...

    Bolt Express Questions

I am not sure if they are even taking vans on no matter where you are at. I would though suggest calling Mark at 1-800-545-4789 and he will tell you straight up. Best of luck to you!

    Freight Lanes search

Not all that long ago a member posted a general list of good freight lanes for inbound and outbound traffic. I have done a search but still can not find it. Does anyone have that list or if the author can post it again here that would be cool. I am sitting here speaking with another driver (he...

    Bolt Express Questions

I have just been approved to sign a straight truck on with Bolt Express out of Toledo. It is a 22-footer. Has any one had any experience with these people? Are they pretty good on getting your settlements to you, traffic, keeping busy, dispatchers, etc - the usual questions? I am not sure if I...

Load payment - is it negotiable?

I have a rate and that is what I try to get at all times. I may take a reduced rate if I am in a bad traffic lane or I have been sitting for awhile. There is alot of things to consider before turning a trip down - but there is alot of things to consider when taking one as well. What is the...

Trucker Buddy Program - Good for drivers and kids!

I recently took the advice of good ole' Leo and signed up and joined in the Trucker Buddy program. I believe it to be a worthy program for all of us to participate in and connect with younger school aged kids. Here is the bases of the program (direct from the website): Trucker Buddy...

    Owner/Driver Contract?

Most o/o have a lawyer draw up their contract to make sure their interest our protected. I would suggest taking their contract to a lawyer you can trust and get their input. Sure this is an expense that you really do not want but if you are serious about this profession it is well worth it. Like...

    DEAD HEAD

I know what I like to get per mile and if I can still get near or at that rate including the dead head miles I will take it. So say if I want $1.65 per mile and if the dh is 200 miles, the rest of the trip is 800 miles and it pays me $1650 I will take it. But if it only pays for the 800 miles or...

IT IS JUST ABOUT ME FROM HERE ON IN

IT IS JUST ABOUT ME FROM HERE ON IN

Well, since I WAS THE ONE ACCUSED BY THIS SITE as the one that threw the first personal attack on someone, since I refuse to give up and continue to fight for what I believe in, they have locked the discusstion thread on the unions - I GUESS YOU GUYS WIN by taking away my rights! CONGRATS! So...

    Union Update!

Addressing the point of unions not being for independent contractors etc etc. Let me try to explain this AGAIN. There would have to be a legal id outlined by the courts to determine what is an independent contractor under the terms we are discussing - as was the case in the early 60's when the...
