I have yet to see a mini-van hold up to the rigors of everyday use like we use out rides. -- Mike N Faster than a speeding poulet. Owner/Operator Big 'B' Experienced 10 years auto transport 2 years local/distance expedite Laurel, MD (Washington DC area)

    HAZMAT Debacle

    >Debacle is the right word! I hate seeing thousands upon >thousands of truckers having to go through this for >something that will provide little or no national security >benefit. None of the 911 terrorists had pilot licenses, did >they? If someone gets it in his head to use a HAZMAT truck...

    Fleet owners needed?

Speaking as a van owner/operator I have to agree. There is not enough money on a consistant bassis to feed two. (Owner and driver) As for a good carrier the archives of these forums are chock full of that very same question. Sit down with a pot of coffee and read. It's full of good stuff. --...

Just because the roads are clear ......

Yanno Crazynuff I hear your point but these days I'd rather sit in traffic now and then rather than listen to all the idiocy on the CB (Children's Band) I threw my CB away a few years ago. -- Mike N Faster than a speeding poulet. Owner/Operator Big 'B' Experienced 10 years auto transport 2...

    Fingerprint Load

Fingerprint is the reverse of 'no-touch' Basically it means the truck driver get to hand load/unload the cargo. In other words put fingerprints on the load. -- Mike N Faster than a speeding poulet. Owner/Operator Big 'B' Experienced 10 years auto transport 2 years local/distance expedite...

What is the smallest tractor I can use?

RE: More coffee , more tips After re-reading the original post it would seem that no matter what he tries to tug that trailer with he is going to be over 26,000 pounds as the trailer (per his post) is at 18K so even if he was using an F-350 as a tractor that would put him at a GCW of 29,000...

What is the smallest tractor I can use?

One thing to keep in mind is that the 11K GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)of your F-350 is not the GCW (Gross Combined Weight) of that truck. While the trailer you want to pull will likely be more that the F-350 is designed to pull the GCW number is what really matters. For example according to...

Real Life reasons to careful II

Hey Raceman! Bravo on your posting this next act in your saga. Many of us, myself included, would probobly not be willing to share that kind of detail and frustration about one's issuses getting payment squared away. This truely is a lesson to *everyone* that they need to be prepared...

    couriers and expedite companies

    >Wonder what the pay per mile is in Iraq, and you probably >don't need a CCW permit. Being that all that there work is billed by Haliburton I'd wager the rates are like $38 per mile and all the RPG's you can dodge... -- Mike N Faster than a speeding poulet.

    Pallet Grabber

And I found the cheapest pallet grabber yet. I'm using a nylon strap about 15' long I found on the side of I-95 that had the ratchet destroyed from being run over. I tied a loop in one end and the other end has a hook. I just loop the strap either through or around the skid, connect the hook to...

    Gas Milage Question

To be honest it sounds like you are getting close to as good as you are going to get. You can of course try to drive a bit more conservatively and such but I'd be shocked if you ever consistantly got 18 MPG in a gas E250. Are you sure you aren't confusing the mileage rating with a Diesel van...

    NYC

I'll ditto Terry on this one. EZ Pass is a must if you are going to work in the east. Works on nearly every toll road from VA to Mass. And yes SandQueen, tolls into/out of NYC are silly. Cost me nearly $30 to go to Long Island and back from DC last week in a van. -- Mike N Faster than a...

    What about it?

RichM is correct. As a sole proprietor filing under your own name you can use your SSN or EIN. I use my SSN for my tax filings. If filing as a coproration (Regular, S, LLC etc.) you would need an EIN as the corporation would be treated as it's own entity. -- Mike N Faster than a speeding poulet.
