    Companies offering CDL A training

Thanks Bill, I took a look and it's some of the same places that are offering in the Louisville area. Some of the trucking companies have you train at a independent school then come to them for the "finishing off" training. I would imagine that it wouldn't matter to much who your working for...

    Companies offering CDL A training

I'm in Louisville, KY so we have the UPS hub here as well as FedEx and a number of other companies located around the airport. They offer some pretty good rates for the amount of home time you get but they want you to have 6 months to 1 year experience OTR. I figured that if I "suffered"...

    Companies offering CDL A training

I've been expediting in a van for several years now and I've decided to get myself a cdl and spend a year or so OTR. I've seen a fair number of expediters on here that have started out with a big carrier so I'm hoping to get some opinions on a good company to sign up with as a trainee. I...

Running team in a cargo van

I know there's a few of you out there running teams in a van, mostly couples, and I'm wondering if you see a big difference in load offers. I have a friend that would like to get into expediting and I'm thinking about letting him ride with me for a few months at least so he can decide if it's...

    on board fax machine?

If you want some good and most importantly free, scanning software try FreeKapture. When it scans it saves it to your clipboard and you can paste it into whatever program you like. PDF, Word, notepad, etc... I scan it, paste it to a blank word doc and save and send. Nice and easy.

List of goods to take on the road

Thanks for all the help! I'm definitely packing my own steel toes and hard had now. I've delivered to some factories that had some pretty foul loaners. I've just bought a new Android phone through Verizon and this eliminated my need for an air card and satellite radio! It can do both...

List of goods to take on the road

I remember seeing a discussion on here awhile back regarding necessities to take with you on the road but for the life of me I can't seem to find it. I checked the FAQs and tried a few search terms to no avail. I've had a few people ask me about this and while it differs between truck sizes...

Yep, dealt with these lowlifes over email. I just hit delete. I could smell the BS as soon as I opened their poorly written email.

    Bolt

I've been "stalking" these board for well over a year, reading and asking a question here and there. I've compiled a big list of questions over that time and while most have been answered directly you will find that there really aren't direct answers to some. There are so many variables. I've...

    B CDL training in kentucky?

If you are currently laid off the govt. will pay for you to get a cdl at an approved school. I'm in Louisville, KY and these guys are as well. I've heard pretty good things about them. They rush you through the class but you would be hard pressed to find one that doesn't. Truck Driving...

Amount of hours aloud to run in a CV?

I've noticed a few posts regarding cargo van drivers being forced by the carrier to shut down after so many hours. Is this just if they have a cdl? If I'm running for a carrier that doesn't require me to have a cdl do they ever force you to "break" while on the road?

carriers without a 5 year or less requirement

Even being a Super Duty? It's rated to haul nearly 2 ton. I can understand not going with the normal 250 as it's only rated for around 1 ton. I agree, I would like to find an extended but just haven't had any luck finding one in good shape yet.

carriers without a 5 year or less requirement

Thanks everyone, I looked at a van today that may make this a moot point. It's a 2007 E-250 Super Duty with 90k on it. Very well maintained and new tires. I think I'm in love, lol! It's around $10k and that seems pretty well below the prices I'm seeing on the net.

carriers without a 5 year or less requirement

I understand the reasoning, but as I stated I have found some older vans with very low miles. For example, it would seem to me that a 2003 E350 with 40,000 miles would be in better shape than a 2007 E250 with 140,000 miles.

carriers without a 5 year or less requirement

I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent carriers that will take on a cargo van that is more than 5 years old. I've been finding some great deals on older cargo vans with really low miles. It would seem to me that they would be more concerned about miles and condition of the van. For...

    Sprinter, van, straight truck??

Thanks for the input. Do to some legal issues it looks like the person I was going to team with is out of the picture for now. I've been seeing some pretty good deals on cargo vans and with limited funds I'm thinking that will be the route to go. I'm afraid to get locked into a situation...
