Are there places to work for an Owner that does not require the medical card to be issue within 6 mos please? Mine doesn't expire til October but I'd rather get on board now because every yr for past 3 years it takes aproxa 1 wk for my 2 doctors to receive paperwork & fill out carriers & for carrier to receive back and me to get to DOT Doctor& possible back to DOT Doctor even though I always pass I'm losing money.thank you for any assistance

A valid medical card is valid until it expires. When you get a new one, it becomes valid the day you get it and you should be able to scan and email it, or fax it, to the carrier. Any DOT certified doctor should have the paperwork on hand for the examination. I don't know why you are going through 2 doctors to get to a DOT doctor.

Either it’s early or he kind of rambled. Or both.
Every year for the last three years....12 month card.
Get back to Dr ....Retest ???
Is it good until the day it expires or good until the day you fail ?
Then you’re out of work until the day you finally pass....

It sounds like the OP has some medical issues that require him to get re-certified every year. He probably has to see his personal physician/specialist to get cleared and then a DOT qualified doctor. My advice would be to get the physical now and be good for another year. Why wait until October?

Thanks everyone & stick I'm asking if anyone knows a company that won't ask for my renewed med card until I renew it. Do far I've asked Panther & Load1.

If you have a one year card, there’s a reason.
Aug 20 to October. 6-10 weeks.
I’d want a fresh one for three reasons.
1) Why invest in you when you may leave in a matter of weeks if you fail your next physical?
2) you may not be as healthy as you were 10 months ago.
3) signing you on now or soon increases the chance you’ll slip through the cracks and they’ll forget to get a timely renewal.
Good Luck to you.

Turtle, if my card expires October 20 and I fail a physical on Oct 1st, can I drive on the original until Oct 20th, the day it expires ?
I wouldn’t think so. You’d be driving while you know you’re physically unfit.

You are correct. The date you fail a medical examination is the date you become disqualified to drive, regardless of the expiration date of the previous medical card.

Right but I didn't fail & have never failed they just need the same sign off. I go thru this every year.but usually I don't have to go through it til it's due because I'm working already for them. But this time I'm applying for a driver position.

This seems very important to you for some reason. I’d go tomorrow. It’ll take a few days to do background checks etc.
Doesn’t appear to be enough of an issue to go to a sub-par company over.
