Looking back over your career, what were your most interesting hauls ?

I did two I’ll always remember.

Herbie Hancock’s Equipment to his 70th birthday celebration in LA.
He performed at a zoo in Seattle either Saturday or Sunday. We got in early, spent the day at the zoo, then the outdoor concert, then took his Piano and other equipment to downtown LA. I remember I couldn’t find the dock, the area was packed as the Dodger’s Owner was appearing in court for a divorce.
The dock was underground with entry a block away.

Another was a $15 Million weapon, loaded with a viewing stand for dignitaries near truck, that someone said should keep ( unnamed world leader ) “in check.”

I once was dispatched to an apartment in downtown Chicago. The maid answered the door and handed me a shoe box containing one pair of golf shoes. I expedited the shoes to Augusta National Golf Course and delivered them to the Pro Shop, where the owner of said shoes had a tee time for the next morning and he had forgotten his shoes. Never mind the fact that for what he paid to have his shoes expedited to Georgia he could have bought several pairs of shoes in the shop.

One of the more memorable was a load from a military contractor just outside of Orlando, FL delivering to Camp Beauregard in Louisiana. There were several odd restrictions on the load, one of which was it must be a solo driver, and the other is there could be no stopping. It's a 900 mile trip. Had to plan the load out with the shipper. Two men in army fatigues took my van back somewhere on the compound and filled it with fuel, and we calculated that one tank of fuel would get me to the Naval Air Station at Pensacola. I did not have an escort, but I was tracked by active GPS, so they knew exactly where I was at all times. I showed up at the main gate at Pensacola, they were expecting me, and they took me to an officer's dorm room where I'd spend the night, and they took possession of the van. I ate dinner with the officers, slept comfortably in the room, had breakfast with the officers, and then they returned my van, full of fuel, and I made the final leg of the trip to Louisiana. When I arrived at Camp Beauregard they escorted me to the fuel depot where they again filled my tank with fuel, and then escorted me to the delivery at the Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT) trailers (tank simulators). I was delivering updated components for the 5 simulators.

Tha base was nearly empty as the previous morning they had all shipped out to Iraq, making it the perfect time to replace the components. But I got a tour and an hour in the simulator. I was astonished at how realistic it was. I also remember that my contact at the Camp was a man named Hung Vo, who looked like a general in the Chinese Army, but he was an employee of the military contractor. His grandparents were from China, but he was born and raised in Sacramento. His partner at the contractor was a shifty character from New Jersey. All in all, it was an E-ticket.

I took 30 containers containing all of Coca-Cola products recepies from Cincinnati to Tulsa straight through with an escort riding my bumper all the way. When i stopped for fuel he did too and pulled right up to my bumper so no one could enter. We had two way radios to cmmunicate back and forth. Found out later shipment was worth $2 million dollars. When we got there at around 2 am, he found contact and told him he was there with the stuff and was gone in an instant. Slept on the property until I was unloaded in the morning.

In fact sitting at O’Hare waiting on one now for delivery tomorrow.
Got another booked for Friday delivery. Easy and good money!

Wasn’t for a porn shoot, but I took two skids of semi solid cream from Kankakee to Moline once. Told to keep it as cool as possible. Turned off the heat and did the job; thank God it was November, not February! Delivered to a nice, warm warehouse. When I told the consignee about keeping it cool/cold, he said “we have to let it melt for the morning”

I was part of this sting operation, I had to drive from store to store with an FBI agent in my truck while they collected all the evidence. I was supposed to take it all to a warehouse back in Maryland but there was so many phones to catalog that it was going to take too long so that part didn’t happen, but it was an interesting day.

All 21 crooks pleaded guilty.
The 3,leaders got 130 and 87 months along with a $1 Million dollar fine each.

Man, I never get anything fun. Took a hydraulic pump from Louisville -> Tioga, ND and arrived the oil fields area around midnight the next day. Address was a basic pole barn outside of town and a pickup with three burly guys met me there, manhandled that 200# skid into their pickup truck, signed for it, and sped off into the darkness. Must have really needed that pump.

Was stuck in Dallas for a bit in Summer, 2015 and finally got an offer out of Plano. 10' long, skinny crate. Delivered to a gas refining complex way out on the prairie 30 miles west of Salina, Kansas. You know how they burn the exhaust gas at those places? I brought in the lighter! Apparently, my cargo assembled into a 20' long pipe with a trigger on one end and a spark-generator on the other that safely lights those exhaust stacks. Before these were invented, they used flaming arrows. Hard to be super careful with the aim on those though, considering what went on there. Didn't always succeed in lighting the waste gas with one arrow either.

I was sleeping at the Des Plaines oasis and got a load offer about 2:00 in the morning. Pick up at Ceva in Elk Grove Village and deliver to Ohare. It was a casket going to Boston. The load paid $125 and I was back in my same parking slot by 03:30.
