Above my pay grade. I have an 8550 gvw, the times in the past I have enquired, I'm told it isn't necessary (authority) altho no conventional carriers will deal with you without one as a true independent

John Mueller CDS, CDT, COSS.

Not to discredit John in any way, but when I saw the CDS,CDT, and COSS it made me think of a 3 Stooges type business card.
Ala the 3 lawyers, Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe.

I imagine some of our more brilliant minds can come up with what they could possibly stand for.,
Before John returns to tell us what they really stand for.

The guy that said getting money out of him was like pulling teeth asked if he’s a Certified Dental Technition ?

I learned today that the last word would be spelled just as Doug Heffernan would say it:
TECH NIC IAN

Those designations mean I spent a lot of time studying, and also my own money to learn the very fine details of my craft - much more so than the normal "safety geek". Great thing is I am still willing to share my knowledge with everyone (drivers and carriers) in the expedite industry.

Turtle had the meaning of each correct.

Thanks!

And we appreciate your efforts.
I know you have a sense of humor because you tolerated Fastman.

Authority under 10,000 lbs? And I pay my own insurance. They require 2 million

I dunno. I did it for several weeks last year crossing the border without issue. Did have magnetic signs tho, I would cover the decals for independent work

Edit: 2016, its 2018. Man I'm scatterbrained today

Could be a difference between countries...altho I operated in us with no problems

Ever pick up freight for a different company on the invoice than the one on your truck?[/

In response to your very last paragraph.

That happens a lot of times if your picking up overflow work from a partner carrier or a broker.

Ragman - I've had enough folks say nice things about me here on EO that any that might consider a derogatory comment, well let's just say they probably don't know me. If they did say something bad - shame on them! I'll take my ball and go home. :)

Worn-out Manager - I miss talking to the Fastman. Jim worked with me for a long time and was always not just a great driver, but a great person. I'll surely look at him differently now that I better understand his "spiritual" side. He had me thinking he was in good with the Big Guy upstairs, not a bottle. That explains why he does not walk straight.....

Big Stick - I do have a sense of humor. I've worked in the Expedite industry since 1995 (trucking since the early 80's) and worked with a bunch of truckers. You are forced to gain a sense of humor in this environment - though I really got my sense of humor from my mom and from working in foodservice prior to trucking. Remember that Trucking Should be Fun

I appreciate all of you. Thanks for all you do!

Just waiting for an app to challenge the load board system. He who actually does the work should be taking the biggest cut. Not always the case after it filters down thru a few carriers

Now this DOES look like it may challenge uShip, I got rid of uShip in disgust when I saw what the public wants to pay for freight without doing a single run

I got rubber stamped today ... I'm approved. :D

Since I own my own vehicle & pay my own insurance, exclusive agreements have never really appealed to me. I've always liked having multiple sources .. 50% here, 30% there, 20% .. over there. I like having some more control & less bureaucracy.

I'm comfortable handling financial transactions through different online/mobile payment services, this won't be difficult.

It'll be fun to see what this turns into ....

I suppose cross border won't be happening. Sniff the boxes for your own protection, Grizzly. If it smells like a college party...

I'd like to see a competitor compete with Uship (We have lyft and uber but no competitor currently for uship) and be able to mix expedited loads in once the Sprinter gets full and has room for a skid or two. Management of trucks moving sooner then later is something u ship doesn't have a concern for, so I would like to see that change and eliminate lost productivity (it takes weeks to fill a Sprinter completely top to bottom with 10-25 clients per load). Max out the load, make the most $. Still waiting for trucks to depreciate sitting on sides lines looking for local courier/delivery work. Maybe run a CA to NY uship run if I can pull $2 per mile. I will spend hours on the computer coordinating that run if it happens which is another thing I would like to see eliminated, bidding just doesn't work. Get the shipments booked same day with customer and give them a time window on ETA and get trucks moving! I don't mind taking a week or two off between large shipments running coast to coast or Tx to NY or CA but 3-4 weeks off is too much. Something to revolutionize the shipping industry is desperately needed in the very near future!
