Ford Transit question.

A big advantage promised over the sprinter's is Ford's huge dealer network. That seems to be failing miserably.
Ford does have a larger dealer network than Mercedes. The problem is most of them don't know what a Transit is. Many confuse the Transit Connect and the full size Transit. Ford is to blame for this. Ford likes model names that begin with the letter E, Econoline, Escape, Expedition, Edge, Eustang and ETD. Why not name one of these vans something other than Transit. How about Express. That starts with an E. Ooops, Chevrolet has a lock on that. What about Edsel. Yeah, Edsel or Edsel Connect.
Never forget the Escort too! :p

Butch, you should write to Ford telling them of your experience. Laurel, Mississippi has a population of less than 20,000 so they probably haven't seen many Transits.

I have been working for a local courier/messenger service for 12 years, 5 to 10 overnight trips a year. I have used mini-van 2yrs., 2007 Diesel144" Sprinter 6 yrs., 2012 Ford Transit Connect 168,000 miles 5 yrs. No two pallets, for that matter not for Dodge, Chevy, or Nissan mini's either. Only MB Metris. Great vehicle for 1 skid plus 3/4 loose, pass thru height is actually taller than Ford or Chevy std. vans by about an 1 1/2". 1200 Weight- 300 for the "natrrional challgencged dirver". I know this going to "tee up you Sprinter guys" but "up keep" has been nothing compard to what my Sprinter was. I keep on PM, stop and go Chicago traffic, front brakes

con't 65,000, rear 114,00. Have not touched any thing on tune-up, runs the same, starts right up, same mileage 21 city, 25 road. One bad thing made in Turkey, some OEM parts pricey. Heating/AC blower, not in part stores yet, $741.00 Ford, searched on line $43.00. radiator fan Ford $643.00, online $271.00. Last 5 years grossed low $50's, not a ton of expenses like you guys. Great local and some special out of town, unless you have a great contract I do not see it for you guys for over the road.
