Seeing lots of Expediter trucks here in the east l

RE: Seeing lots of Expediter trucks here in the ea I also see quite a few expediting D's come through the NW. I see a LOT(relatively speaking) of Tri State trucks. I've even seen a PantherII B unit parked at the Jubitz here in Portland. I talked to the driver, he came from Sacramento. He...

Hey Van guys (and Gals)! What are you paying for i

RE: Hey Van guys (and Gals)! What are you paying f Just a response to what you said Teacel: I as a local courier am paying 2600/year for ins. It does get spendy. I know of other couriers who have been with their ins carriers for a longer time and pay as little as 2400/year for TWO p/u trucks.

    vans

Running with your own authority means a lot! I am seriously thinking of getting a B unit and expanding my local courier service to a West Coast expediting service. Only problem is the cities are so far apart, it is tough being available for a 90 min. P/U. I'll figure it out.

    career change

My two cents worth: I tried contacting them via email 3 separate times.......no response. Here in Portland, they do not use O/O's or IC's, they are all company drivers.

    Fedex Home

I checked them out a few weeks ago. They seem to have a high turn-over rate(high for O/O company) It isn't really driving anyway....it's a bunch of loading and unloading with a little driving in between.

    TT vs D unit

Thanks for the input! I am leaning heavily toward going trucking for a couple years or so and THEN maybe get into expediting.

    TT vs D unit

Question..... Which would pay more: Driving a TT (general freight)as a newbie= $30,000.00 1st year gross OR Driving a "D" unit(solo) for an Expedite owner. Would that generate the same, not as much, or more income? I'm aware of the general variables in the industry that can affect revenue...

    West Coast

You might want to check with Dynamex, FedEx CC, Con-WayNOW,Landstar, and there is a local outfit called Action Expediting located I believe somewhere off NW 30th and Yeon area. Hope that helps.

    lease purchase

RE: lease purchase...Well.. ACTUALLY... :-) "when the time came to lay off drivers, and it inevitibly would, they would be laying off drivers in company ownned trucks. Then they would be making payments on trucks that were not making them any money." Why would they lay of someone making a...

    lease purchase

OK, I have a question: Why don't expediting companies have a lease/purchase type program similar to full-load trucking companies to augment their demand for O/O's? Is there not a need for that? Do they get more than enough contractors as it is? I just see an "urgent" need for O/O's in ads or is...
