  • White Glove
    Mar 11, 2010
Yesterday was a good paying, VERY low mileage day. The entire morning consisted of driving about 20 miles, and then spending time assisting a White Glove Services truck with the unloading and inside delivery of some large computer equipment. Sometimes that happens... with a large, heavy load, or if it is a labor intensive load... they will call in van drivers to help with bigger trucks. When I got there, it was a good thing I went in first. The company had no dock, and the door they wanted the equipment delivered to was kind of hidden.
  • Still the King!
    Mar 9, 2010
Yep, I am still the King of Dry Runs! I had a nice run up near Toronto, Ontario which delivered last night. On the way up, I was pre-dispatched to assist with a White Glove delivery in Rochester, NY. After delivery last night, I came over towards Rochester, and went to sleep. Upon arriving at the customer this morning, I checked in, and waited for the other truck to arrive.
  • What a difference!
    Mar 8, 2010
So, I was hangin out in Southern Virginia, workin on my tan when.... what? Oh yeah... man.. what a difference a week makes! Last week, driving by snow piles higher than my van, by this Friday, I was in 50's weather, sunshine, window down, enjoying the warm breeze !
  • Mud and Snow

Today I sit in Baltimore, Maryland after delivering here last night. I picked up a load in West Virginia, 2 drums which weighed just over 1000 lbs total making for a nice ride. I had a pretty smooth ride, and the roads had been cleared the whole way... which was good... as in Northern West Virginia and Maryland, I passed some ridiculous snow piles, and drifts. Some places still had not dug out.
  • Nasty weather

I spent Wednesday at home this week due to dealing with some family issues, then got back on the road. Thursday night I picked up a transfer load from another driver in West Virginia, that was headed to Chicago for Friday morn. Dispatch called and let me know the other driver was going to arrive at the transfer point 2 hours early, so I headed on down. It wasn't scheduled to deliver to 8:30 Friday, but since I picked up early, I was hoping they would open early, and luckily they were.
  • Runnin the miles
    Feb 23, 2010
The last week has been very nice! Even tho I've had to run in a 'bit' of snow, the miles were there, which translates to a nice payday comin! Chicago was supposed to have a lot of snow, but by the time I got up there yesterday morning, the city work crews had already cleared the streets. Kudos to the City of Chicago! I had no problem getting to my delivery...
  • Alabama, and Tennesee...
    Feb 21, 2010
I really enjoy driving in the mountains. I'd much rather see mountains and trees than big city buildings. Don't get me wrong, the city lights are still cool to see at night... I like seeing Nashville, Chicago, and of course my fav Columbus lit up, but it's nothing like seeing God's handiwork!

  • Snow and more snow...
    Feb 16, 2010
I left over 3 hrs before pickup, with only about 40 miles to go. Wow.. by the time I hit Columbus, traffic had slowed to a crawl. From the outerbelt to the northend pickup address, it took me 2 and a half hrs. As I pulled up to the pickup, I saw there was going to be a problem.. their lot was not plowed. Just then the phone rings... it's dispatch... customer sent everyone home early, and forgot to call us til now
  • Mountains and New Tech
    Feb 13, 2010
After sitting still in meetings for a few days, it was nice to get back on the road. It's funny, a few years ago when I was in the corporate world, a few days away in a nice hotel would have been a dream LOL.. It definately was nice, but by the end of the 3rd day, I was getting 'antsy' to get movin.
  • Slick roads
    Feb 10, 2010
I'm sure it's no surpise to anyone, that we have had some nasty, nasty weather in Central Ohio AGAIN the last few days. I drove up to the Akron area yesterday, and it took me over 4 and a half hrs to go about 160 miles. Crazy stuff. The roads were so nasty, that for much of the way, traffic was moving 30-40 miles an hour.
